Although I didn't hear it until the 90s, this is probably my favourite 80's song....

+1 to Sony/BMG/UMG for putting a lot of older videos on YouTube themselves.

One of my favourite songs of all time:

Finally, some CanCon:

(could also link Lunatic Fringe, Boy Inside the Man and Victory Day)

As you can tell from my username, I am a huge Depeche Mode fan.

Depeche Mode is currently on tour in North America. Sadly, no dates in Calgary...but I will be seeing them at the Hollywood Bowl!

Here is a sample of their stuff...from the 80's:

big ups for this thread. as an 80s music guy...always nice to see the videos eventually!

one thing to mention for younger cpers is that there are a number of genres posted here all under the 80s moniker.

for example...

new romantic movement
big hair
arena rock

there were of course blends of this...such as platinum blonde who moved through new romantic and big hair...but did arena rock concerts, loverboy who did big hair and arena rock, and of course bands like simple minds, duran duran, a flock of seagulls, the fixx, and depeche mode. i could go on and on.

a big shout to the spoons who i always liked.

and dire straits before they sold out. the money for nothing song/video was the beginning of the end for them for me.

also have to mention tears for fears, payola$, and personal friends of mine...doug and the slugs.

man...i could post on this all day! maybe i should just head for my album collection now!
