But why was he elected to the Pro Bowl? Definatly not because of his passing stats.
2004 - 2005:
QB Rating of 78.1, Completion % 56.4, 2,313 yards with 14/12 TD/INT ratio
or
902 rushing yards on 120 rushes and 3 TDs
2005 - 2006:
73.1, 55.3%, 2,412, 15/13
or
597 yards, 102 touches, 6 TDs
He was an exciting playmaker, but a top 5 QB, oh god no. He was and always will be a glorified running back who has a cannon for an arm.

Vick would be an elite QB in the CFL simply by virtue of his legs. The danger he poses running the ball would be amplified in the CFL, and he was already a massive threat in that area on a smaller field. As far as passing, he has a rocket of an arm, but his accuracy is poor. In the CFL a guy who can throw the deep ball is especially dangerous, with receivers hitting the line at speed he has the ability to put balls up there for guys to run underneath. Add in his running threat and you have defenses that get to choose between playing soft to defend the deep ball, and allowing the running game, or playing tight to the line to prevent the long scramble and getting beat over the top. You can't play a spy against him, there aren't many tacklers anywhere that can match him in the open field. Unless a team could find a way to keep him between the tackles he would be very hard to stop.
He'll never play in the CFL, but he's built for that style of game.

My only concern is those wide outs for 5 yard gains, those are really tough to throw and if you are not accurate, it's 6 the other way.
I think would be fine in the CFL and would likely be a star, but I don't think he would "tear it up".

Assuming other hurdles could be over come, what CFL team has him on their neg list?

You know, it's a shame the CFL has chosen to honor the NFL's suspensions. A situation like this would be the perfect opportunity for exposure and publicity, even if it might be considered negative publicity.
If he isn't allowed back in the NFL (which I think he will be), the CFL should take that rule away for him.

I don't see how the attention would be at all beneficial to the CFL. What would it bring? Some American viewers for a few games?
I don't think you bring the media circus and heaps of negative publicity to your league simply because it'll make sporscenter in the states.

I agree with this. What if he did come in and blow the doors off of the league? You would have the naysayers going on about how the CFL is just a bunch of hacks, etc.
If he comes in and struggles, then you have built in excuses like he was out of shape, not the same player, etc.
Of course that wouldn't really matter to CFL fans, but for the perception of the league itself to the U.S. and to CFL haters in Canada I see it as a bit of a no win situation.

I agree with posters in this thread who mention Vick's terrible passing game. A glorified runningback is a great way of putting it, Pagal. He is made for NFL style football and I can't imagine him dominating here.

Isn't the whole point of the rule to keep people like Vick OUT of the CFL? Maybe they should rename it the "well maybe you can play if you're really good" rule - "The CFL will honour all NFL suspensions and not allow the player to sign a contract with any CFL team while under suspension, unless the Commissioner thinks the player in question would be really awesome."
He'd suck anyway. He'd be like Michael Bishop, except bigger, dumber, and not as accurate. His crap aim would make him an interception machine when trying to throw on the longer and wider field. His lack of smarts would get him confused with all the receivers and defenders moving around before the snap.
Plus - the first time he visited McMahon, Ralph would lay down a beating on him for all the other dogs who dream of biting that waste of skin. And if you thought Bertuzzi got booed mercilessly...

Vick is the most overrated QB of all time. Like mentioned, a glorified Running back and nothing more. I'd rather have Burris over Vick anyday for the Stamps.

Well the Mike Vick image makeover project is off to an interesting start. First stop after getting released, you guessed it, hook up with Allen Iverson and head down to the local strip club for amateur night.
I get that you just got out of jail and seeing real life naked women is something that would be high on the list, but how stupid do you have to be to go to a strip club the day you leave jail when you know everyone is watching you? There's nothing wrong with going to strip clubs, in fact I encourage it, but when you need to put on a full court press to convince people you aren't a scumbag maybe you should consider a bit of discretion. I know this isn't a wild prediction, but he will be an absolute anchor for any team that signs him.

So it sounds like a 4 game suspension.
Who gets him? My guess would be The Redskins.

Sources say 4 game suspension with the ability to attend camp.
If this is true, who takes a chance on this guy? After Pacman, would Jerry Jones take on Vick to be Romo's backup?

No way, there's absolutely no upside for Dallas. They have a starting QB, not only would this create the expected circus and controversy, you'd be adding in a QB controversy. When they brought in Pacman they needed help in the secondary and he was supposed to be an elite corner, here there's absolutely no reason to bring Vick in. Jones is a Romo guy, he's not going to alienate his QB for what has a good chance of being a negative publicity storm.

Whichever team picks him up, that's the team I'll want to finish 0-16. I would have an extremely tough time supporting a team he plays for no matter how much I like them. He was responsible for what I consider deplorable behaviour. It wasn't an accident what he was doing, he willfully and repeatedly supported it.

You know, honestly, the 4 game suspension in my mind is over the top. The guy has lost 2 years of his career and MILLIONS of dollars. Now the commish wants to toss a token 4 games on top of it?
I think it's stupid.

He's lost all of that due to his own choice of actions, he's deserves every ounce of punishment he's received and will receive in the future.

If it was up to me he'd be barred for life, same with anyone involved with shootings, drug dealings or what not. It's about time that athletes and celebrities get the same punishments as regular members of society as opposed to special treatment.
