Swapping out Wells for Ellsbury would be reason enough to make the trade you propose. But I don't see Boston being the least bit willing to do that deal. They already have J.D.Drew making big money in one corner, they're trying to reach a deal with Jason Bay in the other corner that will likely be in the neighbourhood of 15 a year. So I can't see them wanting a third expensive outfielder in Wells.

This year: Championship
Next year: move Wells to left, let Bay walk
You're right, there's holes, it's just an idea.

Only problem is every GM in the league would want Bay over Well's.....
Well's is an under performing over paid Outfielder. Bay on the other hand has performed extremely well....

I think Bay will walk either way, I think he will follow the big money that some team in the NL will throw at him.

And every fan is aware of that, including me.
The Cy Young pitcher is an important part of the equation.

I don't think Boston will get outbid on a player they want!

A couple of interesting stats on Wells:
Home avg. for 2009: .171
July avg. in 2009: .364
So he's coming around, but really feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders and letting it crush him IMO.

It's been a while since I've heard Jays fans boo one of their own.
It looks good on Wells.

^ My buddy in Tampa says Buehrle was unbelievable today, even more so than you'd assume for someone who pitched a perfecto.

Also: love the free internet era where every game is available, if you know where to look. Haven't seen the end of a prefect game since Expos great Dennis Martinez did the Dodgers 2 days after Mark Gartner lost a no hit bid, in the tenth - nice run support '91 'spos.
