What happened at the 5:20 mark when everything went all black?
(I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, just curious)

I think part of the parachute recovery system was covering the camera.

What happened at about 5:43 or so? It went completely black and then the parachutes opened.

Found this one too...this has all different angles...it actually puts it home how sort of antiquated this form of space travel is becoming.
Edit: Scroll to the 14:30 mark - that's my favourite...

Not the one...
I saw one show, documentary I believe, where the crew of a space ship determined they needed to move the galaxy instead of moving themselves.

This form of space travel has always been antiquated. It's extremely inefficient, but it's only the first step.

Look at this engine being developed right now:

Considering they're close to test flights of the Constellation program, my bet is they think it's antiquated too.

The ion engine is cool, something new, but it won't help with getting stuff off the ground; the thrust is far too small.

When the screen going black there I had a "oh oh, here comes the rickroll" moment.
It is amazing how good of a track record the shuttles have given how many failure points there are. The foam chucks breaking off pieces of the fuel tank is pretty sobering.

Alright then, the
hardware used in this form of space travel is antiquated. It's what I meant.

ok, here's the stupid question of the day...
how do they make it happen that the rocket boosters fall back into the ocean and not on land somewhere?
