The difference is that Sony didn't put out an infected torrent, they put out infected CDs, which made a bunch of people say, "huh... guess I'm safer just downloading off the internet."
It was the first thing I thought of, put I decided not to post it when I realised it wasn't quite the same.

yep. i've found most anti-virus scanners to be 90% useless. they don't get updated quick enough to detect most new viruses before they can infect a PC, and even if they are aware the really serious threats bypass them anyways. so essentially you're paying money and clogging up massive amounts of resources on your PC for false peace of mind
with a seperate hard drive for backup and a slipstreamed Windows install disc, i can reformat, reinstall and have everything up to date in the time that a full indepth virus scan takes to complete. i do it every few months even if nothing is broken just for the performance benefits
i've also found that just by installing a hardware firewall for my family members and explaining to them how not to be stupid when using the internet, they don't need anti-virus scanners either

The RIAA has a team of people that perform DDOS attacks on torrent tracker servers by uploading fake torrents.
They got in some trouble last year when the brought down Revision3's servers that distribute their content.

Just an fyi, but if you didn't do that in safemode it most certainly didn't fix the problem.

Many viruses require a specific fix. Find the name of the virus, then do a google search. Be careful not to go to any additional sites that will give you a virus (don't include the words virus in your search).

That is the name of the virus or where it's located. I went into safemode and ran Ad-aware and it said it found malicious files and cleaned it and restarted my computer but the virus is still here.
I cant use google it just redirects me to spam popups. And everylike 20 min it seems the virus or whatever it is is taking a screen shot of my screen. It kinda freezes for a split second then is good after.

They already do, and already are. That's what lead to my weak-assed, half-hearted attempt to crap in a PC thread.

I gave him hell. He isn't allowed to download anything anymore on my computer. I even deleted LimeWire to get the point in his head.
He doesnt understand anything about viruses and how they infect computers. Avast has saved my ass from him so many times it's not even funny.
Annnd even worse we didnt even get to watch the movie.

Set up your computer so you need a password to sign on. You don't need your brother creating more headaches for you.
