Default What a [Mod edit- Messed] up day! My little vent...working a one day job

How do you guys think this should result?

So last week I emailed this job ad on Kijiji for a one day promo job for Blackberry products. Ive done promo work before and enjoy it, so it was nothing new to me. Tues, the lady manager (does the coordinating and hiring) for Calgary, calls me and wanted me to attend a 2hr training on Wed afternoon. I go ahead with it, everything went smooth, were told to meet at 6:45am today at a location downtown.

Im there at the meeting spot at 6:45am sharp this morning, surprisd no one was there yet, so I wait. 7am and couple more people show up, but the manager didnt show yet - wierd hmm. 7:15 and theres a total of 7 of us there including myself (which is supposed to be 11 including the manager). We all tried calling her but no answer and no call backs. So we all stick around till 8:15 until we all got fed up and split.

When we were waiting for her, I was talking to a couple girls there too and they both were telling me how shes always late and that last night one of them was out drinking with her lol (I was thinking wow what a bright girl we got here)

So about an hour ago, she calls me saying sorry and how she had an emergency to attend to - which Im sure is bull considering one of the girls there this morning told me she was out with her last night drinking. So she most likely slept in and was hungover. During this call, now get this, she asks if I can go back down right NOW to work. I told her I cant, (I aint making a 2nd trip when I already wasted most of my morning waiting for her no show). Seriously, is that just messed up or what?

Id be shocked if she still has her job after this. Cause blackbery is gonna be contacting her company asking how the promo went, then what is she gonna say.

What I really want to ask is, even though we didnt work the scheduled 4 hour shift this morning, do you think for us who DID show up this morning should be paid for it? Cause right now, she said since today things didnt work out, I would only get paid for the 2hrs training on Wed.

So basically I wasted my morning and having to wake up 4:30am in the morning for nothing.

Yes you should be paid for 4 hours and the manager should be fired.
Money comes out of Blackberry's budget right and manager will have to answer for that.

You showed up for work, you are entitled to at least the minimum number of hours for one shift.

I hope that you get ahold of the proper people and receive money for your wasted time, and that she gets whats coming.

reminds me of years ago for myself.

Was contacted for 1 week of work paid under the table at 16$ (it was alot at the time, and i was 17). My interview with the guy was over drinks, and we were supposed to start the next morning.

At the end of drinking that night, he says "i may need you to take training and sign up officially for liability. At $8/hour taxed". I was kinda mad, but agreed as long as i made 16$ taxed.

I was told to show up in the industrial area at 6am for training. I show up on time, hung over and wait till 10am (sleeping on a couch). I tell the people at the office that im pissed and going home. Then I get a call at noon with this guy chewing my ear off on the phone about how im a bad employee for leaving.

Needless to say, from that point on everytime i see him i'm edging to attack, and he sees it and usually leaves. Weird now cuz he is usually with his forever pregnant wife (like the wheelchair guy's wife on family guy), so no point in getting rowdy.

I just called her again saying how for us who showed up, have the right to ask for 4hrs pay from this morning. She said she contacted H.O. and is waiting to hear back on what they're going to do about it. Pay me the 4hrs and ill be happy as it at the very least would make this mornings outing worthwhile.

It's karma because you never posted that mini-skirt picture. You breached contract with all of CPs salivating pervs, and now you must pay.
