OK so you will make fun of people for dressing like cowboys/cowgirls during Stampede, yet you still think it's acceptable to attended themed parties?

I love 80s parties. I wish I had friends who liked them too. I would love to be an 80s party DJ.

I always considered that the '80s were kind of the lost years. Nothing really memorable or significant about them at all.
Now if you want a theme party, do the roaring '20s or the '50s, '60s or the '70s.
So much more to work with.

I've always considered the 80s the most fun and exciting decade of the 20th century. It is actually my favorite decade of all time.

I'm the same way, man I love the 80s - lets have an 80s themed party I'd be totally down, I love the vibrance, the cheesiness, the neon, the crazy hair and just all that insane 80s music - so fun to dance to.

I love that stuff too. So much fun! A few years ago we did a jack and jill stag for 2 of my friends that were getting married, we rented a party bus with a dancing pole in it and made it an 80's theme. I went to value village and picked the worst clothes, put on some blue eye shadow, giant earrings, hair in side pony tail...good times...
However, i've also been to a martini party that was 70's theme and that was super fun as well. It's hilarious to see what people pull out from each decade!

Is it a little bit lame that one of my favorite songs is Africa by Toto? I love 80's music.

Ya, that one was really awesome. A friend of a friend is some kind of martini freak and literally has a menu of martini's that he makes. It was a really fun party.
I also belt out the 80's in my car frequently. I have like 5 playlists on my iPod that are pure awesomeness of the 80's.
Of course i also have all the AC/DC albums as well...i like alot of stuff and pretty much all the decades of music.
I say we have a CP 80's party!

How old are you? I'm not trying to be saucy -- it's just that I get the impression that a lot of us posters on here were kids and teenagers in the 80's. I was, so I think it was a cool decade just because.
Re: the OP -- 17th Ave has lots of vintage/used stores that are loaded up with 80's stuff. The hipster dufuses are all over that "look" these days.
Vintage shops get first dibs on all the second-hand clothes and they pay for them. If you want a see-through Turner Valley High School Class of '86 t-shirt, you can get it for 2 bucks at Value Village. If you want to blow big money (like 20 bucks) for a Cyndi Lauper tour shirt, go to a vintage joint.

I don't know this Cat's Eye place but I'm sure they do run through the thrift shops and find the "cool" stuff and mark it up a thousand percent if they find something they can sell at that price.
I used to know someone whose job it was to go to some sort of donated clothes warehouse and wade through or even climb up piles of clothes and root through it all and find the stuff they could sell as "vintage". She wore a dustmask while doing this. Blech.
They paid a premium for first dibs and sold what they found for real money. Value Village-type stores got the leftovers, probably by the tonne, and sell whatever they can get for whatever they can get.
