I was and am really high on this song but i stopped playing it because after a while SRV's version has really grown on people and has taken the life out of the song. It's pretty much become a guitar solo for a 1 guitar band.

After a while I switched to the Clapton version because I do really like Jimi's orginal song with the the lyrics and i found that I was getting a lot of positive feedback and I found that this version brought the song back to the band rather then being 7 minutes for the guitarist to show off (although you still can)

If you just stick the chords here you can master this as a second guitarist in no time while working up the licks to take over the frontman spot afterwards

Jimi's version of Little Wing from Andy Aledort Instructional DVD that was released last year some time... amazing dvd worth the money for those that dig Hendrix and his technique

Part 1

Part 2 (also contains a backup guitarist rhythm part)

Edited: remember to tune down a half step for the version as well as SRV's

I will choose the classic Hotel California by the Eagles. To play the intro properly you need to capo the 7th fret

Here are the chords for the song:

Here is Don Felder's solo at the end of the song:

All right, for my first selection I'm going to go with one of my long time favorites, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in three different versions:

Campfire version:

With independent baseline:

Probably closest to the real version:

Tab:

I usually just play the campfire version, and I have a slightly modified version of tab that I like better, but I'm not sure how to post that. If you're interested, let me know.

Thanks - now I can play a campfire version. Don't know why I didn't try it before - guess I thought you needed two guitars. It's one of those cliche songs like Stairway To Heaven, but everyone knows it when you play it.

I'm going to start with Better Man by Pearl Jam. This is an excellent campfire song, especially because it's really easy, yet pleasantly unexpected by non-musicians sitting around a fire.

The verse is basically just the same chord formation, that you slide from the second fret to the fourth fret, to the fifth and to the 7th. Then the chorus is just D A G.

The only thing I would personally change from what the guy is suggesting in the video is the way you form the verse chords. I think it's way more comfortable to put your 2nd finger (middle finger) on the low E string, then your 1st finger (pointer) on the G string and your 3rd finger (ring) on the B string.

Also, Eddie Vedder plays open string chrods for the whole way through, but if you're playing on an electric I find it's fun and sounds cool to switch over to Power chords and light distortion for the second chorus, when the full band is playing.

That tab didn't paste very well, but it shows the picking for those of you who prefer to read tabs over watching someone show how to play it.

I'll link the tab here too......

I am not sure what to pick. I see everyone posting OLD music, and my stuff I play doesn't sound like anything posted. What the hell, with my first pick, I pick "Aces High", by Iron Maiden.

The only problem is, there aren't really that good of tabs for it, I taught myself a lot of the parts. I will try and find the best ones.

http://www.911tabs.com/link/?3666495

But for the Pre-chorus-riff, it should be:
Running scrambling
E-------------------|-------------------|
B-------------------|-------------------|
G-------------------|-------------------|
D-------------------|--5----------------|
A--5-7-7-7-7-7-7-7--|----7-7-7-7-7-7-7--|
E-------------------|-------------------|

flying
E-------------------|-------------------|
B-------------------|-------------------|
G-------------------|--5-4--------------|
D--7----------------|------7-5-7-5-4----|
A----7-7-7-7-7-7-7--|----------------5--|
E-------------------|-------------------|

And the chorus should be:

E-------------------|
B-------------------|
G-------------------|
D--5--7--9----------|
A--3--5--7----------|
E-------------------|

Only hit the E at the beginning of the chorus, then do this rhythm, until it changes to:

Run live to...
E------------|--------------|
B------------|--------------|
G------------|--------------|
D--5---------|--8-----10----|
A--5---------|--6-----8-----|
E--3---------|--------------|

It really isn't a hard song. The whole Powerslave album is fun to play.

I don't know a good tab for the solo, I am still learning it.
