Yes, Valley Club says that there were other camps that were refunded their money. If I were Spector that's the first thing I would look at. Are they being totally honest that this decision was applied equally to camps of all racial makeup.

I did find one article saying that Storybook Children's Center, also with a large percentage of racial minorities, was also refunded their money. But their director didn't lodge any complaint as she was concerned that the private pool was not well equipped to handle a large number of children and accepted the safety reasoning given.

The Valley Club is deeply troubled by the recent allegations of racism, which are completely untrue.

We had originally agreed to invite the camps to use our facility, knowing full well that the children from the camps were from multi-ethnic backgrounds. Unfortunately, we quickly learned that we underestimated the capacity of our facilities and realized that we could not accommodate the number of children from these camps. All funds were returned to the camps and we will re-evaluate the issue at a later date to determine whether it can be feasible in the future.

Our Valley Club deplores discrimination in any form, as is evidenced by our multi-ethnic and diverse membership. Whatever comments may or may not have been made by an individual member is an opinion not shared by The Valley Club Board.
No sense letting the facts get in the way of a good story about discrimination. Oh.... and OJ was innocent by the way.... no matter what the media likes to say.

complexion |kəmˈplek sh ən|
noun
1 the natural color, texture, and appearance of a person's skin, esp. of the face

How does this word have anything to do with overcrowding?

They're backtracking after some sleezebag racist shot their mouth off.

I'm not even sure about that..... Merriam-Webster's fourth definition:
"overall aspect or character"
He *COULD* have been referring to the age group that the pool was being marketed to. Just very bad choice of wording given definition 3.

If you take the pool's board's version of events as "unquestionable fact".

It sounds to me like a complaint came from one of the pool members though. Some of the kids have reported hearing a lady asking "Why are there so many black kids?" and fearing that they might do something to her kid. Whether this is true or not is uncertain, but gotta ask, if the pool was full of white kids, would the complaint have been made? *shrug*

Edit: And what's the the pool's poor use of wording? "Complexion"?? Man, their PR person needs to be fired, hard!

Other camps were turned away due to the potential for overcrowding. Those camps have said as much. It is a fact. Facts are, by definition, unquestionable. That's what separates the facts from the hypotheses.

But let's not muddy the discriminatory pool water with black (and white) facts. That bikini of victimhood was bought and paid for with the blood of their cotton-pickin' forebears, dang it! Now where's the compensation due for hurt feelings.

Wow. Do you ever have hate issues needing to be worked out.

As I said above, this could well have been a big misunderstanding. Or perhaps the fellow that they are referring to in "Whatever comments may or may not have been made by an individual member is an opinion not shared by The Valley Club Board." actually is racist. I'm not sold either way, but AS I SAID EARLIER if Arlen Spector finds that other camps with mostly caucasian kids were turned away as well, then this story has no legs to stand on.

But also as I asked earlier, if you do have a link that shows that such a camp also had their money returned, I'd like to see it.
