Default Looking for winter hockey players

Me and a buddy have decided to put another winter hockey team together.

We are looking for some guys that have some experience under their belt. You don't have to be amazing, but we just want guys that have some experience, we are looking to be about a "C" level team in the NCHL.

The guys at the NCHL have agreed to sell us some "league" jerseys, that way we can keep our fees down for the first season, and then if we stick together, we can get our own custom jerseys.

Just let me know in this thread if you have any interest. The fees will be about $750 for 30 games+ guaranteed playoffs, starting in september, and that will include home and away jerseys.

The league requires full equipment (shoulder pads optional), and there are full slapshots allowed.

Feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

* I can't guarantee that this is for sure. First we have to know that we have enough players willing to commit. But I'm confident we can find 15 guys.

...and again, don't be scared away by the fact that we're asking for some experience. All we're looking for is a middle of the road rec team, so feel free to tell me what level you've played up to, or what level of rec hockey you currently play, etc.

Non Contact? What are we, girls?

Just kidding of course. But I think I am too young to join (19) you guys, and my skinny body would frighten many. I do miss playing hockey though.

Good luck to you guys though.

Do you know of a league that is cheaper in Calgary?

I would have definitely played but I just committed to another teams and just can't afford both. Hope you get the number you need.

Our HNA team is $530, we were $550 in NCHL last year. Dont know if I'll play for another $200. I'd have to say that NCHL has the highest fees that I know of by far. Those were both with 16 full timers I think.

Why the hell is it so expensive? I tried to get on the NCHL site to check the fees, but it's apparently locked...

How about a double double from timmy's? And a can of slightly warm Lucky brand beer?

If I can find something cheaper, I'd be all over it. But part of it is the fact that they're providing team jerseys (home and away), which any new team would have to go out and get usually.

I've got a set of practice jerseys. Might be cheaper if people go out any buy their own set of white and black?

I tried to find the prices for NCHL and their website has pass protected the pricing info for teams. Its $650+gst for individuals though.

From what I was told you can pay like 3 different levels of league fees, depending on ice times and what not. We're going to be talking to him again today, so I'll find out more.

That's an option. I kind of didn't want to be one of "those" teams, but if it keeps the fees down then it might be a better way to go for year 1.

there are indeed 3 different "levels" of ice time
theres regular, which for winter will usually mean a majority of your ice times being in the 11:15-11:45 range

theres home ice, where you get half your games on the same day at the same time in the same arena (my team did this last year and our home arena was crowchild twin, wednesdays at 11:15)

and then theres home ice prime, which is supposedly the same as home ice, except you will get start times at like 9:45 or something for your home arena. This is the option that my team is trying for supposedly, and while Ive not actually seen the price lists, prior conversations with some of the higher ups with the NCHL lead me to believe that this particular option is ~$12000 for the winter season

also if you're interested flameswin, there are a couple of guys that played on my winter team that I can ask if they'd be interested in joining you guys. They should fit in with the skill level youre looking for as well, as theres no way they should be stuck toiling in E or even EII if thats the route our GM decides to take. Good guys too, will come out for drinks every now and then, but not entirely sure if theyd be too interested in keeping pace with you lol

Wow, I'm getting mostly negative feedback for asking for $750 inlcuding jerseys, lol. $12000 would be $800 per player without jerseys.

But yeah, I would really appreciate if you let those guys know. We have a few guys already, and the skill level seems to be pretty decent so far.
