I disagree. I was 12 when I delivered my first euology. My grandfather's funeral wasn't on TV, but it was attended by a few hundred people. Nobody asked me to write a euology (which I did in the car-ride out) or get up there and deliver it. I made my Dad baul.

Not defending the Jacksons here, just the abilities of 12-year olds.

When my dad died suddenly I was 20, my brother and sister were 11 and 9 respectively. I gave part of the eulogy and they both read poems. Some people might not believe this but taking part in the celebration of a loved ones life and honoring them with a poem/song/speech/whatever can be really help someone cope with the beginning of the grieving process.

My brother and sister were asked if they wanted to do something at the funeral and they both immediately jumped at the chance. I don't see why it is so hard to believe this is the case for this little girl.

Your dads funeral was televised nationally? Attended by every known celebrity imaginable? Nice!

On another note, i have no idea if the kid was forced or not, i have no opinion one was or another. And i know that none of us on here could possible relate to a kid that grew up in that freak show family.

Well maybe Jackson's kid loved her daddy just a little bit more, enough to want to make a speech....we will never know...but I would hate to make assumptions about Rerun, as he is definitely not the type to make assumptions about individuals he knows nothing about.

Why does it matter? Because her father was a mega celebrity the kid suddenly shouldn't have the right to go up and speak?

Sorry, but because things work a certain way for you doesn't mean they work the same way for everyone else. It's possible that there was urging to do it, or even forcing, and it's equally as possible that the child did it because they wanted to.

I wonder how many 11 year olds have stood up at their Dad's funeral and made a speech to the mourners at his funeral... let alone to thousands of people she doesn't know and to millions watching on tv.

I don't know a single 11 year old that would have the confidence to do that on their own... without someone talking them into it.

To her it's her dad's funeral, not a megastar's watched by everyone.

And she just said a couple of words any kid could have said and cried.

Wouldn't be such a big deal if TV didn't replay it every 2 seconds.

I doubt very much the kid understood that millions of people were watching, even if she was told. To her it was a room full of people that were friends with her Dad.

A room full of people? If that isn't an exaggeration I don't know what is. The "room" was the Staples Center and from all reports it was packed to the rafters.
