I hope its ok that I work this job and am continuing to look for a better one at the same time. I know it may not seem right, and theres a good chance that I may only be at this job for 3 months or 6 months, if that, who knows. But sometimes you gotta do whatever it takes to pay the bills, even if it means using one job as a temp fill in.

i obviously wont say anything about it to the company.

What if you can get paid more for allowing someone to kick you in the snatch with a frozen mukluk?

I make sure I always set people up on a video for that...

I've never seen someone take bagging groceries so seriously before. Then again, I bag my own since I bring my own bags (old pastic bags, nothing special; I watched a lot of captain planet when I was younger)

I worked at Safeway for 2 months while in high school. The training was an absolute joke, consisted of 5 hours of going through ridiculous videos (mostly to do with sexual harassment) and they insisted on giving me the answers for the final test so that there'd be no delay in getting me on a register. I tried to internalize everything so I'd have some idea what I was doing, but they got angry with me for not going quick enough. Needless to say when I got out there I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. This was the Safeway on Elbow and 4th though, which is a terrible grocery store in most aspects, so this just exacerbated the already terrible training.

A lot of sad people working at that store... my manager would take one of those chickens and take it up on his break and eat the whole thing himself... by himself... everyday.

You know the economy is bad when you start to see adults working at McDonalds and Tim Hortons again.
In the boom it was all kids at fast food restaurants as adults could pick and choose. Apparently not so now.

Congrats! I actually also found a new job and have put in my notice at the Flames so there may be an opportunity here shortly. Maybe that should go in the confession thread. I'll miss it here but it's time for bigger and better!

My buddy who was currently on EI finnally got cut off and is working full-time making less than on EI because no where is hiring right now. He told me the other day on EI he was paying off debt but now he is going into debt working. How does that work? Yikes!

I'm starting to think leaving my job was not the best choice but the golf everyday has been so wonderful I haven't thought about it much.

Well that is weird. I just received a phone call from a company looking for someone part-time doing the same work I was before. They got my name and number from the old place I use to work. WTF is up with that?

Thinking of taking it since its part-time, got to admit sometimes I can get pretty bored.

Ya, it's a big downer. I'm a technologist and this means I could barely make rent and monthly expenses, while all those espenses are staying par for course.

Won't EI top up the difference until your claim expires?

My buddy had a part-time job making like $4-500/month and EI would just deduct $100/month because you can make $100/week without penalty to your EI claim.

Only if part-time I believe. If working full time you aren't eligible for regular benefits.

What do they consider part-time? Certain amount of hours or is it what the company lists you as?
