Anyone good at hitting on girls in public (during your daily commute)?
I think its safe to say that in this day and age, its damn tough for guys to hit on women while on their daily commute (ex. To and from work). Just think about how often you see or walk past a very attractive girl on your way to work.
Let me tell you, hitting on a girl walking in the opposite direction is a near impossible task without giving them the creeps. If any of you guys on here are able to pull it off consistently with ease, then I give you mad props. (And perhaps even send me a PM
Girls are much more cautious now when guys approach them (even me a girl!). Especially if they're smoking hot, they know it and just assume everyone who approaches them is hitting on them.
Anyone else have luck? What are your secret methods? If she's not listening to her ipod, she's reading a book. If she's not reading a book, she's on her phone.
Even as a girl I find it hard. Not much for a girl to say really.
Discuss.

I use a bat and a ski mask, those usually work pretty good if i am in public.

If you're on foot, I find that tripping them tends to slow them down for a minute or two, thus giving you the opportunity to help them back to their feet, cop a quick feel, and unload your best pickup line...
If you're driving, hitting them with your car usually works wonders. Most people, after an accident, exchange phone numbers.

I think it's really difficult for anyone to be receptive to any strangers for any purpose on the train. It's just not where your 'train' (pardon my pun) of thought is at the time. Public transit also has this 'prolitariat' feel to it that somehow makes it seem even dirtier to explain to your friends that you met someone on the train.
As for picking up women on the train, the only time I've ever tried was when some drunk homeless guy was wrecking havoc for the general populace on the train after normal working hours (I think it was like 8 or so at night). The homeless guy approached this girl and started trying to talk to her in his broken speech. She looked thouroughly disguisted with him, so I started up a convo with the homeless guy to distract him until his stop at the end of the free fare zone downtown. Afterwards it seemed to be a nice lead in to a conversation with her, got a phone number! Seems to me it was made easy only due in part by a window of opportunity to talk to her without looking like some guy trolling for his next prey.

Since I've thougt about this before, and I'm usually on the 301 and there's always some cute girls on there... I've maybe come up with a strategy.
1) Check to see if there's a ring on their finger. Most of the time I've found, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. If I don't see a ring, well then it's fair game.
2) As cheesy as this sounds, drop your iPod next to them, or directly on them. It forces them to react, and you just have to apologize and laugh it off, and it atleast gets the basis for some interaction there. They'll talk to you even if it's just to say 'no worries' or something like that. It makes them notice you, and not in a way that you're hitting on them.
3) Zero in on conversation. You now have their attention. Ask them if they take this bus/train often, ask about what book they're reading, joke about exchanging iPods since you just dropped yours (make sure you have the better one).
4) If they take the bus often, tell them you'll see them the next time you're on the bus together. If not, make your move. Stay on as long as they stay on, and get off at the stop after them. You may not be in the right neighborhood, but atleast you've maximized your chances at conversation with them.
Be prepared to accept rejection. Otherwise, don't attempt this on the bus, because it can get incredibly awkward really fast.

Who the hell hits on a girl in public? You wait till she's in a secluded place (pedestrian underpasses work like a charm), your chances go way up. Gotta play the percentages.

Well that's the thing - there's usually just too many people around you to hit on a girl on say the train. I used to have a guy friend who was so smooth with the ladies, he would get numbers left, right and center. The dude was a pro.
Being a girl though, we have to spend more time to really read the girl otherwise she will be offended lol.

When I used to take the bus this really cute European girl would get on a few stops after me consitantly, She definately was not Jewish - that will make more sense in a second... one day She sat right in front of me and opened a news paper with a strange looking written language... I nervously said something I should have probably thought about a bit more...
me: "What language is that? Hebrew?"
Her: "No... Russian" with a are you mentaly handicapped kind of look in her eyes...
me: "oh... um looked a little like hebrew.... ...."
insert awkward silence for next 15 minutes...
it was awesome.

Missed the bus

Try approaching her and saying something like:
"Hey, I mean this with absolutely no strings attached, but I had to tell you, you look really good today."
And then walk away. It will totally make her day and she won't forget it or you. Then, if you commute at the same time everyday, you're sure to see her again. Even if you ignore her when you do see her, or just kind of smile in her direction, she will feel internally compelled to come and talk to you if she's attracted to you.

Hitting on girls in public places are the best places because their defences are down. They figure that since there are so many other people around, they don't really have to worry about being picked up. If you try to pick up a girl in a bar or club, they are expecting that and their shields are at 100%. You need to pick them off when they least expect it, and therefore, they will be more receptive to you. That's what I figure at least.

Back in my day, when we were walking past a pretty girl on the savannah, we'd just use a club and drag her back to the cave.

Ahhh! That's called, "stalker talk". Honestly, if some guy asked me that, I'd say, "no, never, I never take this bus, ever". Haha, kidding. This could come off stalker-ey though, and also a little 1970's "come here often pretty girl?" pick up line.
I'd change it a bit to, "don't you hate the bus / train?" She'll say, "yeah, totally" and you'll say, "there's always weird girls trying to hit on you I'm sure". HAHA! Ok, don't say that either. But the "don't you just hate the train" bit will work. Leave with, "Have a great day, hope I run into you again". Try not to do the ol' "I'm never like this, but I've noticed you" talk, that's just BS, and if it's not BS then it's lame.
