Default Where can I plant a tree?

My 5th year anniversary is coming up and I guess the traditional gift is wood...the tree kind . So I thought maybe I can buy a tree as a gift for her. But where the heck can I plant one? I don't want to plant one in our yard.

If you want to give wood I would be a perfect gift.

If you don't want to plant it in your yard plant it in some random place where it will survive then you can go check it out years from now, that could be kinda cool.

Too bad I just can't go dig a hole and plant a tree. And the deadline was June 30th. Are there any other options?

Wood?

.....Wood?

There are some Women that like "Morning Wood". ....

All kidding aside, If the 5 year thing is "Wood", You may want to look into
getting her a Bonsai Tree.

These things last forever and can be very beautiful. Maybe buy her the tree and a book on how to prune them. The two of you could use it as your center piece for your 50th anniversary in the year 2059.

You could always try contacting Okotoker, he'd probably know more about it than we would

Is that the neighbourwoods deadline? It's not that strict a deadline, our tree didn't get delivered last year even though we signed up, and we played phone tag with them for a while and ended up planting it in early august. Phone them up and tell them your situation; you may need to dig the hole yourself but they may still help you out with delivering you a tree.

Good call on the bonsai idea. It's almost perfect (I say almost because they require more care than a typical tree).

I need more trees in my yard. If you wanted to buy one to be planted there, I would be sure to take good care of it for you.

I bought my Girlfriend a Bonzai while in Vancouver last January.
I jokingly mentioned that it was a symbol of our love...as long as it lives, so does our love.

Oops... it died about three weeks ago

She is an attentive gardener,so maybe the tree was more accustomed to the humidity of the coast?
I saw more Bonzais for sale at the Home depot not too long ago. There were the smallish ones and a really big one for around $300.

How about surfing lessons in Hawaii? Do they still make surfboards out of wood?

There's a deadline for planting trees? I've never heard of that. I've got landscapers coming to one of my sites in 3 weeks and there are going to be trees planted.

Bonsai are pretty expensive. Cheap bonsai are usually not bonsai but just an immature plant.

Sunnyside has a nice selection.

As for regular trees, you have plenty of time to plant one. Usually they go in the ground.

I think that's a deadline for some "plant a boulevard tree on city property" program.

A bonsai is a great alternative to a regular tree, but there are other wood products you could give, endless possibilities

Those salt and pepper mills in the first link are gorgeous. They could be displayed in the kitchen forever. They would be a beautiful anniversary gift and well within the wood category.

I dont know about you, but I've always experienced the greatest tree-planting success when I've tried planting them in the ground.

Just a thought.

It's good to know that your wife doesn't care about the size of your wood.
