When did you get this email? Because I am supposed to be flying back on the 28th as well but I haven't heard anything.

^^^ We're booked for the 28th and no changes have been made (aside from the small change that I posted earlier in this thread)...

If that is true that sounds fantastic. I mean can I be the only one who looks at that and thinks that spending a single day in Madrid would be a fantastic end to a trip. Something that in my opinion could be a real adventure against the clock.

I was just talking to my husband about it and we both thought it would be great as well. We were hoping to see some of Madrid but didn't think it would work out but if they stuck us there for a night we could do a whirlwind tour.

Just thought I'd add a couple things if anyone was considering going to Majorca while you're over there.

I was there a few years ago and it's an island that has a lot of different options. Palma is a pretty cool city, not too big but not small. The harbor is really cool, lots of giant yachts. The resort areas to the east and west of Palma are so-so, stay away from Magaluf unless you're into being surrounded by drunken Brits brawling in the street. There are a number of smaller towns around the island with beautiful beaches that are relatively quiet. The coastal road, particularly on the north side of the island are pretty great to drive, winding roads along the cliffs that pass through white washed villages. Overall, a definite highlight. I can't speak for the other islands, but I'd certainly go back to majorca if I had the chance.

BTW, FC Barcelona will be playing at home on Aug 23rd and 28th. Games at the Nou Camp are an incredible experience.

I'm only in Barcelona for a single night but I booked at Expo hotel.

http://www.expohotelbarcelona.com/hotel.php

Looks like a pretty sweet location, apparently I can take a train from the airport to a stop a block away from this hotel. I also really wanna check out the views from the pool on the roof.

Just a note for those that might be in Barcelona in and around Sep 24th. Apparently there's some big festival: La Merce (23rd-27th)

Here's the info I've found on it so far...

Just bumping this up to see if anyone has booked a hotel in Menorca yet? I've been looking online and yikes is it ever costly! Seems like 100-150 euros a night is standard?

We are staying in Alayor at the Hotel IBB Aquarium the first night - about 12 km from the airport and it's $75 CAD for the night including breakfast. Reviews seem ok. Then we're going to Barcelona but when we come back we're staying at the Hotel Mediterrani for $72/night CAD including breakfast.

Yep, just got one as well for a booking that was made through Travelocity. Didn't get one from Orbitz though, and it's the same itinerary.

How can they not honour them now??? That doesn't make sense.

I called Spanair directly a month or two ago and was assured by them that they would in fact honour the tickets. After that I went ahead and booked flights and hotels within Spain!

That's what I was thinking, if they have verbally honoured these seats and people have paid for hotels, flights, etc, are they going to pay for the penalties to cancel these? Fat chance!

What a disaster. I haven't received an email from them yet but I'll be sure to call them directly if I do.

Just make sure it's not in your spam box or something. Might not be a bad idea to call within the next 48 hours just to make sure.
