A Good Web to Know Tomorrow's Gasoline Prices
It is also useful to know how much some refineries rip off from us?

Ahh isn't that a cute uninformed opinion... When you have trouble spelling gasoline you probably shouldn't be complaining about something you know absolutely nothing about.

What a ridiculous thread. Ya, I do work for an oil company but that's not the issue.
If you don't like what's being charged for gas. Don't buy it, or at least as much of it. It's as simple as that. Supply and demand - it's not the oil companies setting the price, it's you when you're willing to pay a high price for gas.

I also like that page's title:

The price of Mr. Harper's complacency

These companies and refineries did not make a cent of profit and in fact provided their services at a loss while the Liberals were in power. Did it for the common good and were more than happy to do it too, comrade. True story.

If you need to google what a crack spread is then you are no longer allowed to complain about the high price of gas.
People complain about gas prices all the time as if it is their right to buy it at a certain price. The complicated system involved in setting prices is meant to maximize profit based on supply and demand. It is their job to maximize value for their shareholders. If demand drops (IE you refuse to buy gas at high prices) then the price will go down.
There is no conspiracy to rape over the population it's just how a market works.

Canada's prices are not as competitive as many places in the US even when considering differing taxes/regulations/currency issues. However that's not necessarily due to collusion as much as it has to do with a lack of breadth and depth in the refined products market in Canada. We really need more people to achieve economies of scale close to our US nieghbors. IE in the Alberta market you have pretty much three refineries within a stones throw of each other setting rack pricing daily vs. Texas/Louisiana where there are countless refineries to compete for the marginal sale.

Thanks.
I am not going to be involved in some political issues with the website. What I am concerned is I just want to pay a fair price during this recession.

Political issues and that website go hand in hand. How exactly is it going to get you a fair price if it's not political?

Steps:
1) Invest in O&G so you benefit from the maximizing of shareholder value.
2) Buy a more fuel efficient vehicle
3) Realize that it will take 200 years to recoup the money spent on a new vehicle in saved fuel
4) First you get the sugar.
5) Then you get the power.
6) Then you get the women.

So gas is more expensive inside the GTA than outside the GTA?
Anyone else not shocked that this? Personally I'd think a lot of land in the GTA (that you can't build density on) is going to be bloody expensive. You have to make up the cost of the land, taxes, etc at the pump and only at the pump. You can't put a gas station underneath an apartment building. You need proper ventilation, safe guards against fire, etc.
That is the cost of business, if you want to get your gas in downtown Toronto be ready to pay a premium for the luxury of doing so. I'd expect it to be less there than on out on the highway leading out of Southern Ontario.
I live in Northern Nova Scotia. Guess what, gas is more expensive in Sydney (away from the refinery in Halifax) than it is in Halifax. It starts cheaper by where the gasoline is produced and goes up from there. Transportation costs come into play. I'm not crying about how it's cheaper by the refinery than it being trucked all the way up here.
Gimme a break. The market will dictate price. Yes it's taxed. That's not new. Never was. The problem is the demand for gasoline, and what we're willing to pay for it.
If you don't want to pay for the gas in the GTA, take the bus, streetcar, or subway. I don't have those options where I live. So stop your bellyaching about filling your car, when there are alternatives available.

Supply & Demand:
$146/barrel crude oil last summer = $1.32/L gasoline last summer
$6x/barrel crude oil this summer = $0.99/L gasoline this summer
So, I could imagine:
$150/barrel crude oil next summer = $0.99 x 2.5/L gasoline next summer
Oil sucker!
