As awesome and infuential I think Reznor has been to the music scene, over the long term, you have to give the heads up to PJ. By far, they have been much more popular.

And while that may make their infuence more widespread, I am still not convinced that popularity in itself is the best prerequisite for "most infuential."

I don't see what the big deal is, neither NIN nor RHCHP are all that great within their own genres, let alone the music industry as a whole.

If I was in Calgary I'd be unimpressed by that line-up, meh is probably an understatement.

Nice lineup, Pearl Jam is a coup, K-Os/Metric/TPC/White Lies all good as well, Billy Talent... I guess you've got to have something for the kiddies.

nm - was gonna point out the PJ did a lot of the groundbreaking stuff before NiN but someone did a much better job a few posts back.

Both bands are doing good things to drag the music industry forward.

Did I miss something? What does Pearl Jam playing Virgin Fest have to do with NIN?

The lineup would have been far worse if NIN had been headlining.

Oh yeah thousands of people would have not bought tickets just because NIN was playing. I can see it now. Mass suicides, riots etc.

Someone else brought up NIN, not me.

All I said is that I don't like PJ.

Agreed.

Does anyone know what kind of capacity COP will have? Is there any chance this will sell out?

Presale password on ticketmaster is VMCVIP, and the tickets are $122 instead of $132.

Of course, after ticketmaster charges they're $141. But that's TM for ya!

Jesus, I think I'm just going to park somewhere the night before, start drinking, and then not leave the festival until monday morning. That's the only way I can fathom not running into a major pain the ass.

If they're going to make us wait too much longer for single day tickets, then I may just buy the two day pass. They're probably going to see how the two day pass sales go before releasing single day tickets.

With so many people in this city frothing at the mouth to see Pearljam, I could see the festival selling out before they even have to release single day tickets.

Last year at Fort Calgary, the capacity was 17500 per day, and both days sold out, and if COP is anywhere close to the same capacity, it will likely sell out very quickly.

POsted in the upcoming concerts thread but I guess it applies here as well. Pearl Jam's headlining Calgary, and Nine Inch Nails is headlining Toronto three weeks later. Very cool.

Why do I get physically excited every time I see the name Virgin Fest?
