Jays beat up on the angels tonight 8-0. Chacin with another well pitched game and Hillenbrand hits a 3 run homer.

The Yankees won, so no gaining ground on them, but they beat the Twins so the Jays at least inch closer to them. The Sox are tied with the D-Rays right now 6-6, Texas and Baltimore are tied, and the wild card leaders Oakland play later tonight against the Tribe.

If Oak loses, the Jays inch to within 3 1/2 of the wildcard and if the Sox end up losing the Jays will be 3 1/2 out as well in the Al East, but that means the NYY and Sox will be sharing the lead of the div.

Oak is down 1-0 headed to the bottom of 4 to the Tribe.

This is a tough series on me. I dislike both teams but because the A's can catch the Angels, great win by the Jays.

T. Rays choke as the Red Sox come back to win after being 2 going into the 9th.

Texas also chokes when the game was tied at 4, they had the bases loaded but Matthews grounds into an inning ending double play. O's win it with a Lopez hr

Tribe still up 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th. A Tribe win would move the Jays only 3 1/2 back of the WC.

Looking at the Jays schedule, there gonna be able to play nearly everyone there trying to catch or in the race. The play the Yanks 7 times next month. Good news about Halladay being back soon, if Bush can pitch like he did last year at this time and the rest of the pitching group can pull together who knows. It would be exciting to watch the Jays in a race down the strech!

glad to see the pen got a rest tonight, Chacin looked on fire.

Flickered quick question and although I do understand the certain homer side to it all, do the A's really have anything left in the tank to keep up and challenge for the playoffs? I mean you gotta think the work on just getting back to this point must've been a struggle? Doesen't look like there showing any signs of coming down now, but it's gotta play in your mind as an A's fan.

Oakland has been a strong second half team for like 6 years now. They always have good pitching, and usually at this time of year is when teams with good pitching hit their stride. With Harden just coming into form, and Zito finding his game again, I'd say Oakland is my pick to take the Wild Card berth, if not run down the Angels for the Division. Look at Houston in the NL. They were a ways back in May. Now they're almost tied with Washington/Atlanta for the Wild Card. Again another team that has great pitching that came on in the second half last year and looks to do the same again.

I realize the A's late pushes always are a given, but this one has been the biggest in my mind. Just due to how far out they were, the trade talks and the almost well at least the future looks good kind of talk, and now they've battled back, and only find themselves if they lose tonight tied with NYY for the wild card lead. Will it take it's toll?

Matchup tommorow is Towers Vs Colon. Colon when he's off can be hit especially with the way the Jays have been swinging the bats. Let's just hope Josh can muster something. Whos gonna take Lilly's spot when he misses one start and possibly more? I really was glad to hear the Halladay news today!

Syl is right, the A's are known for their slow starts, but this year they were crushed with injuries. Crosby, Harden, Durazo, Calero, Kotsay has been banged up for awhile, Chavez is having shoulder soreness.

They have a legit. chance as long as the pitching holds up. The offensive will slow down again, but they have always had pitching and it continues that way.

Wow, in spite of themselves the Jays are actually only 3.5 games out of a WC spot, and 4.5 games out of the AL east lead. With a record of 50-49 they are damn lucky to be that close.

I am starting to think they should go for it. Halladay is coming back sooner than expected, Koskie is back, Hinske is hitting again, this team is one arm and/or one bat away from contention.

In any other year we wouldn't be able to say that, but with almost every AL team having some issues, it might be possible for them to squeak in there.

It isnt likely, but this is the closest we've seen them in years.

Chacin continues to amaze me in spite of his high WHIP, low K#'s he manages to keep his ERA in the top-ten in the American league.

Its gotten past the point of "luck" for me anyways. This young man is poised and confident as hell. Pitches without fear.

Jiggy I think we are one front line starter away from doing something... It burns me up that JP could have had Ben Sheets for Hudson last season... What would you say? At least 5 more wins and the Divison lead if he was in our lineup.

A's get back to their winning ways with a 5-4 extra innings win over the Tribe today, so the Jays have to win to keep pace.

2-2 in the top of te 7th, Jays have really battled tonight, but it's the bullpens turn now, which probablly means another couple of runs for the Angels with the way our pens been going.

Sorry, that last bit wasn't in response to you.

I've just heard a few rumours about Chacin possibly being trade bait for Burnett. So I think the Jays need another arm, but not at the expense of Chacin.

That was just a standard comment to the masses, not at you.
