Is it trendy to bash this movie..? Honestly the worst of the decade. Insert any Will Ferrell movie and I think they are worse.

I don't get what the hate is about with this movie. Big explosions, hot girls, and the main character saves the day. What else were you guys expecting? Did you want it to be as dark as The Dark Knight? It's hard to play deep into robots emotions... I think Michael Bay did the best job that could have been done. You guys talk about realism... okay.... they're giant robots with giant guns. Just enjoy the movie for what it is.
I'm not sure who's talking about realism? Nobody was expecting this to be anymore or less realistic than Transformers 1, but that doesn't mean the audience should simply suspend all understanding of nature / physics, nor is this a reasonable request from a director because such things are required to be applicable since generally movies rely on certain things to still exist, like gravity for example. I didn't expect this to be "realistic" in the sense that giant robots could actually invade earth and blow it up, but I think a certain reasonableness applies, such as having time apply or having cities obliterated and everybody "clueless". I don't think I'm a demanding fan at all, these are ridiculous things that happened and I'm calling the movie out on it.

I don't think Bay did his best at all. He's done better in the past, in this franchise alone notwithstanding his some of his other movies generally are better. And actually I responded to your post because in essence that's what all my bitching is about, is that I think he could have done better and so much more.

It's trendy because it sucked. Although, I definitely don't agree it was the worst in the last decade, not even close.

ah, but if you factor in the hype-to-suck ratio...it rivals that of Godzilla.

I don't think anyone thought that Transformers 2 was going to be good, so the hype thing is a little misleading.

Also no one knew Godzilla was going to be ######ed so it was a huge disappointment. Anyone who thought Transformers 2 was going to be good is clearly delusional.

Now Pearl Harbor is a movie that may have the biggest hype-to-suck ratio of all time.

Well, I got some bad information that Orson Welles voiced Optimus Prime in the beginning. It turns out that he was the voice of Unicron.

D=.

It sounds like your friend got a rumour mixed up. The rumour was that Nimoy was voicing Galvatron and Welles as voicing Unicron. Near the end of recording the lines apparently Welles was too sick to finish so they had Nimoy record the rest of his lines.

This has been refuted by both Susan Blu (the voice of Arcee) and Leonard Nimoy himself.

Wow, so I went to see this yesterday without reading any reviews, and with trying to go in with no pre-conceptions. Here are my takes:

Optimus Prime was sick. When he "upgraded" or whatever that was tight.

The forrest sequence with Prime was tight.

The girls are hot as hell, but the acting was terrible.

This movie was way too long. By a mile. Should have ended after the forrest sequence almost. I understood the plot easily, and I don't understand why people thought there was no plot... however they put way too much crap in there and I think that diluted it.

The new transformers sucked for the most part. Especially the two green and red autobots... gold teeth? racial steriotypes? Brutal. The chick transformers were not necessary, and were obviously put in for girl's toys to be produced.

The parents were the most likable, the mom again was hilarious.

All in all I was really disappointed in this movie. T1 is one of my favorite movies for entertainment value without consideration to moving themes etc. T2 was terrible. I give it 1 star IMO.

I went to see if last week.

I liked it. Entertaining, mildly funny, Megan Fox, explosions, absurd decision making, Megan Fox, stupid military decisions, Megan Fox.

Would I watch it again? Sure, when I buy the Blu Ray.

Was it what I expected? You bet, mindless, plotless, explosions and cgi...and Megan Fox.

And the two posters above you... and a good chunk of the posters in this thread... and a large majority at the other site I frequent tfarchive.com... and 60% of the people polled by the LA Times... and me.

Oh wow, yeah, you're right. Everyone but VanFlamesFan.

I'm pretty sure that I am going to go ahead and judge anyone who liked the movie beyond the fact that it had cool 'splosions.

What? One of the posters above said he was disappointed, see:

And I apologize if I forgot to mention you and your pals at tfarchive.com, oh and 60% of people on a LA times poll. It seems to me that the people who try to defend this movie use words like "mindless" and "checked my brain at the door" which, I suppose, if that is your standard for judging movies you would end up rarely disappointed.

It seems to me that the court of public opinion has deemed this movie awful, which doesn't surprise me in the least.

The premise of transforming robots that disguise themselves as vehicles and appliances is pretty mindless from the outset.

I'd say that going to a movie based on 80's childrens toys and expecting anything but cheese, paper thin plots and cool special effects is setting oneself up for real disappointment. Frankly, I couldn't believe how bad the 80s cartoon movie really was until I rewatched it recently.

Alrighty, I'll take the majority of people I've talked too, the websites I frequent, and polls I've seen as evidence to the contrary.

I have a lot of people who don't understand the plot at an extreme disadvantage on account of I have knowledge of the source material. It's a lot easier for me to understand what is going on, I guess.
