People may think Bay sucks, but a new director would totally ruin the series.

Date is set for 2011. Bay may not have a choice and besides that, Bay himself said the latest it would come out is 2012.

Edit- Some clarification of what made this movie so GREAT for me. And it was one big thing. Optimus Prime.

Now I know you're all thinking "But Blaster... he's always there."

And I know that, but he's never been that good. Prime has always been a sissy, the closest he ever came to being this cool was in TF:TM and he still pussied out and got wasted for it. He never wins a fight, he never looks like can win a fight. He blows himself up over video games, waits to long to shoot people. Hell even Movie Continuity Prime got smacked around by Megatron like a cheap doll in the first film. It feels like he is always defending in every continuity, you never see what Prime can do if goes balls-to-the-wall.

Until this film. Megatron, Starscream and Grindor take him on and are getting thuroughly ass kicked. Megatron and the Fallen get their asses handed to them. An awesome homage to TF:TM at the beginning with the big-wheel, but instead of Megatron and Starscream standing over Ironhide, it's Prime and Ironhide.

He was bad ass, not the whipping boy this time around. When he was in a fight, he was kicking ass.

When he yelled that, I just about did the Samberg face.

Agreed. That fight in the forest and the final battle was awesome!

Guess what, i thoroughly enjoyed it. It a mindless summer action flick and it served it's purpose.

Can't wait for #3.
Exactly. People who are expecting groundbreaking cinema shouldn't watch movies based exclusively on a line of children's toys.

Personally, I loved it. It was cheesy, mindless fun. It totally works for this franchise.

I don't think it works for something like the Star Trek franchise though. Transformers are cheesy to the core, I mean really, we're talking super advanced robots that disguise themselves as trucks, cars, planes and appliances.

Star Trek has an expectation to be light funny, but still very, very serious and intellectual. Because they have the same writers, they have to be very careful because you can see a lot of the same mindset. Star Trek was a hair's breadth away from being the same mindless action as Transformers, and it simply can't be that way, even if that's what they think the masses want.

I'm also really happy that they didn't fall into the same trap as the 80s Transformers movie and effectively kill off Optimus Prime to sell a few more toys. He is way too essential to the franchise.

I went into this film knowing most people had panned it. I went into this one expecting mindless fun. I for the most part enjoyed the first one.

... but this was a bad movie on all fronts, IMO.

And why would anyone want a girl's opinion in the affairs of nerds?

What about Megan Fox's front? And back? I know you're not the biggest fan of Megan Fox, but looking at it purely as a matter of aesthetics, how did Megan Fox come across?

Hey!

You nerds should be thrilled to get anything from a girl, even if it is just an opinion!

Megan Fox was brilliant, the one shining spot in this movie. When she attempted to cry that one time, wow. And when she ran and screamed at the same time, wow. Oscar is gonna be knocking down her door come award time! Just history in the making. She has redefined acting and set the bar high for other up and coming talented actresses!

*slow clap for Megan Fox*

Also - aesthetically speaking, I am pretty sure that Megan Fox was hot enough in this movie to turn me into a full on raging lesbian.

I didn't care about Megan Fox. I was one of the only people in the theater that was there for giant fighting robots. I did not go home disappointed.

I agree with Blaster, the best line in the movie was "I'll take you all on!" Man I was pumped.

^^Well, truth be told, I thought she has a nice body, but she looked quite greasy. I don't know why but in the first movie and this one, the make up they put on her made her look orange and greasy. Apparently, that is a look that brings all the boys to the yard.

Orange and greasy huh? You mean kind of like your avatar?
Everyone loves tan and sweaty on hot chicks. It works wonders.

My lady went and saw this last night, the text I received, and I quote:

"BEST MOVIE EEEEVVVEEERRR!!!!!"

So I guess she liked it. I'll catch it at some point, looks like it's what it's billed to be, giant transforming robots and stuff exploding.

Oh, you are destined for the Tunnel of Death for that comment about my avatar... brace yourself boy!

And he doesn't look orange, he looks tanned.

Tan and oiled up, I am sure, does work on men, but the orange and greasy that she was pulling off looked awful to me.. but then again, I'm not in her demographic.

Yeah, I hated to use the word "greasy" regarding Regher, but I was quoting. I felt bad typing it. And I'm in her demographic, and can tell you one thing: She's hot. She could be freaking purple and covered in oil and she'd still be hot. Actually, that is kinda hot.

I guess now I should see this this weekend.

I suspect, aside from looking goood... they did that to hide her tattoos as best they could.

Yeah, her tattoo's look rather terrible, so covering them up is a good thing.

I think, by focusing on Megan Fox, you're all missing the most important thing.

HE HITS HIM WITH A ****ING TREE!

All this talk about Megan Fox made me watch the first movie for the first time, and while the movie itself was allright, I gotta admit I expected more from her. She is uber hot but where was the sultry bad ass dirty talkin' robot ass kickin' Megan I wanted to see? She was kinda flat IMO. Michelle Rodriguez is she not.

The chick with the aussie accent was cute, is she in the second movie?
