Looks like a few folks liked the movie......
Actually it just means they went to see the movie! Unless the theaters were offering a money back guarantee! !

I am supposed to see this one tonight. I've heard mostly bad things about it, but I am hoping there's lots of Tyrese and Josh Duhamel for the ladies to offset all the slow motion running and cleavage shots of Megan Fox.

It means that the first movie has created a huge fan base.....

Ironically this thread has attracted the fans who love to trash movies....

It's definitely not for everyone. Read some of the comments from the people in this thread. There's been good and bad reviews. Most critics have been rippin it a new one. But would you send a classical music critic to a Megadeth/Slayer concert to review it?? It's not a movie for critics.

It's definitely not amazing by any stretch, it has lulls where it's kinda slow, and it's pretty long at 2.5 hours. But, it's a lot of fun and if you liked the first one, I have a hard time finding reasons that you wouldn't like this one, it's almost an exact replica, just bigger and louder.

I was pretty "meh" with the first one. There were things I liked (Josh Duhamel, Tyrese, some of the robots, the end fight sequence) and things I didn't like (Shia, the endless shots of Megan Fox to the point where they were practically alienating their female audience, the 20 mins of robots hiding on the front lawn, the wildly cheesy Sector 7 stuff). I imagine I will be much the same with this one. There will be things I like and don't like and overall, I will walk out thinking, "Meh."

.... Although my expectations are quite low for this so perhaps I will enjoy it. I just would like to know there's something in it for people who don't lust after Megan Fox. Quite frankly, I'm a little sick of hearing about her.

Hey, the first one was bad, and this one is worse?

Right on! It'll still make millions!

Well, you're definitely not gonna like her after this one. There's plenty of shots of her running in slow mo in low cut shorts.....the opening shot of her is just her in small shorts leaning on a motorcycle...And there's probably less of Tyresse and Duhamel in this one....I agree with you with some of the brutal parts in the first one.....the robots outside the house went on for so long and really wasn't all that funnny.....that was a brutal scene....I don't recall something along those lines in part 2, but like I said, there are parts where the movie can seem to drag.

Whats with the hate? My only gripe with it is it is too long.

I am glad it will make a TON of money, that means they will continue to make the third, and maybe more.

Not likely. If hard work and attention to detail made you a good director, then I guess he'd be one by now. However, like all other creative fields, if you don't have any talent, it doesn't matter how hard you work.

To his credit, he at least is smart enough to stay in the same niche of action films where his weaknesses are minimized. Can you imagine a Michael Bay comedy? It's almost intriguing to wonder how it would turn out - horribly bad, of course, but just annoyingly bad or epically entertainingly bad?

zzzzz......it's getting boring arguing about the same crap over and over.

People earlier in this thread were saying that it's easy to direct a movie like Transformers and I couldn't disagree more......and watch the dvd and you'll find out why.

Getting sick and tired of people saying that this is "good" or "bad" as if it's a matter of fact. It's a freaking opinion. Jesus. I think some people and probably you yourself included would watch a movie not knowing the director, say you like it, find out Bay directed it, then begin the nit picking. That's how you holier than thou idiots roll, just judging a book by its cover.

Christ, I liked Transformers 2 and Terminator 4, and I hated Lord of the Rings and Spider Man 2(everyone seems to like that one)....sue me.

Spiderman 2 sucked. Lord of the Rings was brilliant though. Haven't seen Terminator, I hear that truly does suck.

Everybody needs to relax. It is Megan Time.

Just came back from Trans 2.

Cheesy yes
Brilliant no

Guess what, i thoroughly enjoyed it. It a mindless summer action flick and it served it's purpose.

Can't wait for #3.

I wouldn't need to see Bay's name on it to know it was him or one of his imitators. Believe it or not, it's possible to distinguish good direction from bad direction just by direct observation and without referencing Rotten Tomatoes to ensure your opinion jibes with that of the critics.

As far as opinions go, there are informed and uninformed opinions, and the two are decidedly not equivalent. I don't care if you like Transformers or not, but trying to convince people Michael Bay is anything other than a hack with a talent for action scenes isn't an informed opinion, or at least not the way you're arguing it. Again, you have the right to whatever opinion you desire, but other people have the right to disagree and make their points as to why they think your opinion is wrong AND uninformed if that's the way it comes across.

Lastly, you seem to have invested a considerable amount of emotion into an argument about a movie that - as I'm sure even you will agree - is not going to win any Oscars or cause profound philosophical debate. Why do you even care what I or others think about the movie? You have a different expectation of what movies are about, and as long as your expectation is satisfied, my opinion is about as relevant as whether or not I like my movie popcorn slathered in artifical butter or merely lightly sprinkled with it.

Weird, I don't recall ever calling Bay a great director, a good director or even a mediocre director, but the guy is undoubtedly one of, if not the best action directors right now. Yes, a lot has to do with him having a huge budget, but he it's not like he wastes the money. He uses every last cent. I have much respect for him and every director after I saw exactly how much work goes into making a movie and hell, I probably only saw 1/10th of the amount that goes into it. If you saw the feature, I think you would appreciate it as well.

I'm not investing all this emotion defending the movie's merits or anything like that. It's a silly movie, but I don't care, I liked it. I'm just sick of people ripping it without even seeing it. That bothers me to no end. At the end of the day, I couldn't care less what people think, I don't have an affiliation with the movie, I don't have anything invested on whether or not it does good or bad, but it's a pet peeve of mine for people to dis credit something without giving it a chance. And the argument of "I saw Transformers 1 and didn't like it, so I'm not gonna like this one" is not valid either.

I hated the part with the mom though, ruined the beginning of the movie.

The twin autobots were funny I thought.
Someone previously stated that there was cheering from the audience after the movie ended. And I agree, it is lame when it happens.

It was a pretty bad movie.

I'm a casual fan of transformers (i.e. Played with them as a kid, not worshiped them like Blaster), but half the time I couldn't even tell who was who. Soundwave, Megatron, Bumblebee, Optimus... did they even introduce the other characters?

Aside from the Prime fight where he dies, you could rarely tell who were the Autobots and who were the decepticons.

Also the action sequences were just plain bad (except prime fight). You could barely tell who was winning from the crazy erratic camera pans. Actually the first half of the movie was pretty decent overall, but it went down hill from there.

It also tried WAY too hard to be funny. Way too hard.

Just got back. I was not impressed. Like I said earlier, I enjoyed the first one, it was rather "meh" overall, but it had some decent things going on. This one was a joke, a long drawn out bad joke.

Spoilers in white....

-When Prime dies, I figured he wasn't going to stay dead, but it was disappointing that they took the best robot and probably the most enjoyable part of the first one out of the movie for a majority of it.

-What the hell was with the ridiculous scene with the co-ed in Sam's room? Or the scene with his mom getting high off brownies? Or the weird decepticon turned autobot from the museum that was almost like a Jack Sparrow character? Or the little car that Fox puts in the box that eventually tries to hump her leg? Completely stupid.

-The "dream sequence" or out of body experience that Sam has at the end... WTF? No idea what to say about that whole deal.

-So, the guys get to see Megan Fox in low cut tops and tight pants, slow motion running. The ladies get a close up of the Sector 7 guys hairy ass? Totally fair.

/end spoilers

All in all, I just felt like this movie was quite bad and practically made fun of itself with all the stupid one liners and terrible caricature robots. I wanted to like this one, but I really didn't. There isn't much I could say that was good.

It was just messy.

You liked Sector 7s man's ass. Admit it.

But I agree with all your points,

*Spoilers*

The mom scene as I mentioned before, was ridiculous and stupid. The scene with his dorm mate was stupid as well, I agree.

And they didn't need to show the dogs humping, not once but twice, and then the robot humping Megan's leg. Once is "meh", three times is a bit corny.

But I still enjoyed the movie and will probably see it again in the theatre next week.

Oh, and Blaster, the next one will be a ways away. Bay said he wants to take time off to think about the 3rd, so it will be another 3-4 years sadly. I just hope they keep Bay and don't give it to another director.

People may think Bay sucks, but a new director would totally ruin the series.
