Welcome to the 1st annual CPHL “position comparison” analysis based on a modified version of the TOOL rating system. It is my hope that each GM will take the following information and be able to use it to their advantage to help better their team. I added the minimum number of players needed to play in the CPHL and then divided that number by the minimum to get an average: For example, I have taken the top 6 defensemen for each team, added them up, then divided the number by 6.
Below is a list of all the CPHL teams ranked within their own conference.
PART I: DEFENSE
The Wayne Gretzky Conference:
Boston: 76.8
Rangers: 76.6
Panthers: 75.8
Senators: 74.8
Pittsburg: 73.8
Thrashers: 73
Leafs: 73
Canadiens: 72
Islanders: 71.8
Hurricanes: 71.6
Sabers: 71.5
Capitals: 70.1
Flyers: 70.0
Devils: 69.3
Lightning: 69
Nordiques: 68.5
The Gordie Howe Conference:
Ducks: 74.6
Oilers: 74.1
Flames: 74
Coyotes: 73.6
Jackets: 73.5
Wings: 73
Wild: 72.1
Avalanche: 71.6
Predators: 71.3
Hawks: 71
Blues: 70.5
Kings: 69.5
Canucks: 68.6
Stars: 68
Jets: 67.8
Sharks: 66.1

They may have stole their goalie, but it looks like the Jets have no defense... I have more than enough if you need some :P.

Can't really complain about top 5 in conference and top 10 in league... but there is still room for improvement.

Well would you look at that.
Top 4 in the conference and top 4 in the League for Defense. Not bad. Not bad at all. With 4 of them still pretty young and Developing..
Good long term Future on Defense for the Senators.

Good job MJK! Just curious, did you add the OV's? Or did you exclude some categories?

OV is the basis of this analysis. If someone wants to go ahead and do DF, PA, or SC ratings for each go for it!

Coooool. Even doing it by positions this year up front as opposed to just forwards overall. Neat!

Wings sitting ok with the 11th best ranking. Not bad but room for improvment. After my top 3 d-men I take a pretty big hit in the overall department.
Thanks for this MJK.
