I'll bite. Regardless of "putting up with a monstrous beeoch of a wife for 9.5" and than plowing a hottie if their were marital problems you need to work your way out of a marriage. There seems to have been no consoloing etc, they didn't try to make the marriage work. They're both equally at fault in my opinion. But but all means continue to show societies structural inequalties by being uber judgemental and critcal of a woman and "understanding" the man and letting him off the hook without blame.

I think the reason people are being harder on Kate is her response has mainly been "Well, I never saw it coming, I don't know what I could have done to prevent it" and stuff like that. I think she did say once in the show that maybe she could have been a better communicator, but that was the extent of her acknowledgment of guilt.

John on the other hand has been freely admitting all season that he effed up and knows it. He highlights his downfalls and accepts responsibility.

Not everyone is harder on Kate either, the Mrs (the only reason I know anything about this stupid show) think John is a d-bag. I said years ago to my fiancée that if Kate kept talking down to her husband like that they were going to get divorced.

I definitely agree that Kate has some serious denial issues going on. And for the record Boblobla I didn't mean to attack you if it came off that way. I just can't watch tv these days without hearing about this, and how evil Kate is and while she is flawed, it takes two to tango.

IIRC, on the first episode this season, Kate did say she was hard on John... maybe a little too much.

While I do agree that no party is blameless I struggle putting it at 50/50 just based on how she treats him. Respect is one of the most important pillars in marriage in my opinion and she did not respect her husband.

Communication is also huge, but the thing that John wasn't communicating is that he wanted more respect, so it still for me goes back to Kate.[/DrPhil]

I personally think this all roots from the fact Jon did not want to have another child and Kate did. Thus they had 6 (number doesn't matter), but I believe most marriages that disagree on the amount of children they want/have is in trouble outta the gate.

Never watched the show but from what everybody (opposite to noone ) is saying, it sounds like Kate definitely wears the pants in the family.

I did watch an episode of American Chopper where Kate and Jon were on (my only exposure to this couple) and Jon got a chopper while Kate got a pink scooter.
I'm surprised that Kate didn't take the chopper and give the scooter to Jon.
He did seem kind of p-whipped....
