Have you seen the movie? What's so wrong with the plot or characters? I don't get it??? Bad guys try and destroy earth, good guys stop them. It's a classic story, what the hell is wrong with that?

Maybe it was too "smart" for me...it just made no sense.

95% of movies i goto i know what I'm getting into. Mindless comedies and action flicks, Pixar movies...I have enough stress and other things going on in my life that I don't need to have to think through my entertainment. What I'm looking for is for my movies, music, books and TV to take me away for the length of the time I'm enjoying them.

If that makes me dumber then you or too low brow to be a useful human, well too bad, because I'm in the majority, and the reason there are movies made like this is because people enjoy them for what they are.

Now excuse me, I have to finish my BLL and then hop into my car and blast some Nickleback on the way to see Transformers

So you fell asleep in the parts where the story was developed because there was no loud noises?

Well my point wasn't to try to make you look dumb and get all defensive. All I'm trying to suggest is, that at some level, story does matter. Even if you don't expect a movie to have an oscar calibur script or acting, you can't totally dismiss it either. Even "mindless" fun movies (which yes, I do enjoy as well) need to have something more than explosions and action to make them worthy of watching. Point being, sometimes the best effects are not enough to save a movie with a disasterous script, plot, or acting.

What is a BLL anyways?

I will ask like others have already.
Have you seen this movie? If you have and I missed it sorry, but if you haven't and you are stating that there is no story or plot to the movie what so ever you will have to give your head a small shake because there is a plot and there is a story it just isn't going to win any awards(like well 99% of the movies made).

I havent seen it. I have seen the first one which I didn't like, so I can't imagine I'd be a fan of this one either. But thats not really what I was getting at.

I was responding to the general idea that you can turn your brain off and enjoy a movie that doesn't have a decent plot, which I think is false, because if that were true, you could lower your expectations enough to enjoy every movie ever made. Even the so called "mindless" movies should have a passable script. I guess, according to you, Transformers 2 does.

Not unless you fall asleep like burnin vernon did at least.
I mean yes it is not the most complex story out there and it wont win an award, but you still have to follow the plot line and there is still a story to the movie.

Isn't this a sequel to a movie based off a cartoon show on alien robots who somehow look like human machines based off of line of childrens toys? Did anyone expect this to be anything good? Really?

The twin autobots are the worst "character" since Jar Jar Binks.

Yeah, I'll pretty much agree with that. Their schtick got old......real fast. I think Jar Jar was more annoying though.....at least the twins were willing to fight, Jar Jar accidently destroyed droids.

Both work. It was more than Megatron ever accomplished.

Oh yeah? Got proof? The only Canon during that period is Dreamwave and according to them, Shockwave did it (according to them Shockwave did everything though). Even still, the only Autobots that were on Cybertron for sure were the Fembots... yeah, tough to root out. Not an accomplishment.

Negative. Brawn isn't dead (see Carnage in C-Minor. It's not an animation error. Shut up, let me dream.... I said shut-up). Prowl was killed by Scavenger, and Ironhide and Ratchet were both pretty much dead after being melted down by other Decepticons on the shuttle. Eitherway, all the damage done other than finishing off Ironhide was done by Starscream.

That was Shockwave. He also had Megatron hooked up in a similar way he did the Autobots. When Megatron cam back to life, he tried to fight Ratchet and Buster... and lost.

And Megatron can take credit for Prime being a tool? I don't think so. He actually LOST in the game, and Prime decided to kill himself because.... no one really knows? Wanted a break?

"You have nothing to fear, I've already crushed Optimus Prime with my bare hands!"
"You exaggerate."

What happens if Hot Rod doesn't get in the way to play human shield? Megatron goes home with a new hole where his head was. After all his bluster, and taking a piece out of Prime's side he still got over powered and beaten, and only won out because Hot Rod tried too hard.

Oh, I am not saying Prime is a great leader, but in the comics he's had his moments. Single handedly beating Unicron, defeating the swarm. Etc etc. Obviously Prime will never be my favorite Autobot leader since Blaster at one point led the Autobots.

Megatron has done nothing. He's dead a lot, gone insane, been cloned, but never actually succeeded. He got beat by Spider-Man for christ's sake!

Ha! I actually fell asleep more during the fight scenes, explosions, etc. It was all nothing I hadn't seen before. I put a lot of value on a good character and this movie didn't have a single good one. (Sam's parents were the closest) Bring on Inglorious Baterds

So let me get this straight. Your life is too stressful and complicated that you can't watch movies that have any semblance of plot, characterization, story or any other pieces of a film that make it good. And yet clearly debating endlessly on the internet defending your (IMO poor) taste in movies isn't stressful?

Perhaps if you stopped getting stressed on CP, you'd be able to appreciate good movies.

Seriously though, I don't buy the whole "my life is too stressful, I need dumb movies" argument. I watch a lot of movies and they are movies that I consider good, but I certainly don't watch The Passion of the Christ for fun. I don't think anyone does. I actually find bad movies a hell of a lot more stressful than good ones.

Sure it may be stressful if you're watching Schindler's List, the Reader and Revolutionary Road every second day but I certainly wouldn't call a movie like T2 to be taxing on my intellect or so deep I get stressed.

I don't think anyone here is saying all action movies have to be Best Picture winners, just don't be so bad they get nominated for the Razzies (sp?) every single year. Let movies like Blade, T2, TDK, Iron Man, Die Hard etc be the benchmark not Catwoman (way bad) or Schindler's List (way deep).

The common argument of the stupid movie supporters seems to be that they don't need good movies. Great, a lot of people don't need good movies. But wouldn't it be nice if they were good movies?

Defending liking them is one thing, but to insinuate that dumb movies are good doesn't make any sense at all. To say that you can tolerate a stupid and fun movie maybe, but don't lie and say you'd rather have the movie be fun and stupid than fun and good.
