Default Learning Bass Guitar

I've been playing the drums off and on for about 20 years now. That sounds better than it really is, there's been a lot more "off" than "on," but anyway, I'm looking at learning something new.

I've always been interested in the bass (pretty much since '84/'85 when I first heard Anesthesia). So the question now is... what are some of the good resources out there? I'd prefer a video series of some sort, since I learn best through a visual/hands on approach.

I wish there was a "Learn to Play Bass Guitar" module for GarageBand.

Don't have any advice on resources but good on you for choosing bass.

Prepare yourself mentally for the epic callouses you will get.

Also, learn to play with your fingers not a pick. Only use a pick if you absolutely have to in order to keep up with the song you are playing. On top of sounding better the ladies love a man that has some endurance with his fingers .

look up Victor Wooten 'Amazing Grace' and once you can play that you have skillz.

Hey yeah, I always forget that there's actually useful stuff on Youtube. Good call.

...and yeah, all fingers! I'll take a look for Wooten, but in the meantime, here's some Burton:
