i know i loved the crowd reaction when he stepped in the box. Too bad there were more Yankee fans there than Orioles cause the cheering was drowning out the boos. Anybody else lookin forward to when he goes to Boston? |

Went down to Seattle to watch the weekend Bo Sox and Mariners games and that was fun. Lot's of Red Sox fans at the games so it made for good crowds. Safeco is a really nice park, last time I watched the M's in Seattle was against the Blue Jays in 93 in the Kingdome which was a terrible ball park. No doubt Safeco is a huge improvement even if those two balls Griffey hit today would have been home runs in the Kingdome.
I should add that if I've ever made a comment like Ricciardi is the dumbest GM in Baseball before....I'd have to retract it. The guy who used to run the Mariners, Bavasi I think, deserves that moniker. Looking at the salary's and how much useless money he's spent I couldn't believe it. Beltre, Sexson, Weaver, Carlos Silva, Bautista....Yikes!

Jake Peavy vetoed a trade to the ChiSox today. I wouldn't want to leave San Diego for Chicago either.

Ya why would he leave a non playoff team to go to another non playoff team. Don't disagree with his decision at all. As a Mets fan, I would love for Jake to come to New York as a solid #2 started behind the great Johan Santana. He said that he wants to be on a Playoff contender and still stay in the National League. We'll see what happens...

I got to watch two games at Safeco Field the second week it was open. Mariners were playing the Orioles. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Mariners loaded the bases with no outs with Ken Griffey Jr. coming to the plate. It was a Friday night game in a brand new stadium and the place was a sellout. Crowd was going nuts as the Orioles made a pitching change before Griffey came to the plate. Griffey strikes out. A-Rod comes up next, blasts the first pitch into the left field bleachers for a grand slam. Pretty cool moment to witness live.

It's a different year in MLB as outside of the Dodgers there truely is not any dominant teams. It's the type of season where the Wild Card could be had with like 87 wins in either league unless someone figures out how to get hot in the second half. Really outside of the Dodgers at their current paces the Red Sox, Cardinals, and Tigers are the only other 90 win teams.

Count the Phillies out for the running for Doc, they reportedly agreed to a 1 year deal Pedro Martinez on pro-rated $4M deal pro-rated while he was asking for 5M.http://braves.scout.com/a.z?s=248&p=2&c=878136 |

Martinez is not even in the same league as Roy at this stage in their careers. Not sure if it means they're not in the hunt for him, but at this point anyway, do the Braves have any pitching prospects?

Well looks like after having it turned off all weekend they put that Right Field Jet stream back on for the 8th inning tonight. Should the Yankees hold on, it's a 4 game sweep and the Yankees are really hot right now and running away with the AL East. I got tickets to go see them in Seattle next week, although there won't be no 4 homeruns in 1 and a half innings at Safeco unless the M's are forced to bring up a few minor leaguers.

They held them scoreless for like 31+ straight innings, that was the big surprise to me. Especially in the new Yankee Stadium.

The Sox made it a little interesting there in the 9th, but what a game. Probably the best weekend of baseball for me in my watching career. Only thing that could have made it better I suppose, is if the Blue Jays hadn't won a single game.
