My cable company, Rogers, has an On Demand service that lets me watch pretty much watch whatever The Movie Network is showing that month. More movies on there then I'll ever be able to watch and there are usually a dozen in HD. If I want something newer, I can download it from Bit Torrent and play it on my PS3. And if there's something that I want to watch after it is no longer available on On Demand, I'll record it on my PVR.

I go to VHQ in Marda Loop and I don't think it's any cheaper than BB or Rogers. They also never got rid of their late fees at VHQ, I don't think.

Sometimes we use Video on Demand, but the blu-ray movie fees are even higher than the video store. Plus it's not the greatest selection. But it sometimes is more convenient.

Obviously some of you missed it but I like to watch movies in Blu-Ray, not to mention, I can never tell which movies through torrent are the good ones. Also, if my gf and I want to watch a movie tonight, we have to start downloading it like 3 days ago.

ROGERS sucks! They have no sense of customer service at all....about 8 months ago I received in the mail (along with many other Rogers customers i'm sure) a thank you for your business appreciation Christmas gift where you could get something for free from Rogers CD, book, etc. so I chose the Motley Crue's greatest hits "Red, White & Crue" I thought what the heck why not it will bring back some high school memories. I thought wow that's nice of Rogers so I sent it back well before the October 15th deadline.....guess what still have not got it! Thanks Rogers, thanks for nothing.

No Late Fees was getting ######ed. The store stock was always at a bare minimum, people would take there time with the movies/games, stores would order more copies to try and manage demand; it was a business nightmare, and a lost profit endevour.

I used to use zip.ca (and VHQ online before zip bought them out). It worked great, got a lot of movies. Now that they have Blu-Ray, I might resubscribe to it.

Actually, it's about me being displeased with the flip-flopping of policy and it had nothing to do with the Customer Service, Like I said in my OP.

I'd say it's the latter, and there's nothing keeping you from seeking out other options, which was probably your intention, and there have been a few suggestions already posted.
Again, as I said, I prefer HD. Not to mention, how can they have "already been posted" when mine was the OP?

It's your choice to rent from those places, if you don't like they way they run the place then don't rent from there. Which is something a lot of people have chosen to do, and why they are probably in a lot of trouble right now, and will probably disapear in the near future.
That's what the rant is about, actually.

Reading r fun.

I download the odd movie, mostly old stuff that's hard or impossible to find anywhere else. The quality is just horrible though, looks like crap on 55" DH screen, not worth the effort or bandwidth.

I have been getting a few HD PPVs from Bell. Very nice since you can throw them on the PVR for as long as you want and watch them a few times before deleting.

I get mine from the library. Obviously libraries don't have the selection that movie rental stores do, but i don't have time to watch all the latest and greatest movies right now. The selection is still pretty good and libraries that are part of a library system share their materials, so you can get items from Stathmore when you live in Airdrie.

I'm not sure about the libraries here, but the public library at the UA has a decent selection of movies and tv shows. I got the Wire there, and they also have some new xbox, wii and ps3 games. It's pretty good now that I usually stop in there once or twice a week.
