You may have given me something to mention at tonights info session. That is AWESOME. It essentially does what that little psp looking thing did for that trial game last year. I loved that little device, but there's no way I would buy one. If it were on my phone on the other hand ...
Darn! You're not helping. That's not what I wanted to hear. I've been told that I can get a card (is that the right term?) in the States and put it into my iPhone to be able to use it in the States without the huge charges. True?
Not that I know of. There's 2 issues here:
1)The phone itself: Unlocking will allow you to use your phone in the States and elsewhere.
2)The Plan/Number: Even if you have an unlocked phone, you still need a rate plan or prepaid minutes to actually use it. This is attached to your phone #. So if you take your unlocked phone to the US and insert a "card" you will have a new local US phone #.
This will allow to you make calls without the roaming charges, but your calls will be coming from a different number.
If you're trying to avoid roaming charges, and still use your Canadian phone #, I think you're SOL.
This app is pretty slick, it lets you watch live video feeds at the Pens game...Ken King make this happen at the Dome.
I asked tonight and he said we are probably 2-3 years away from something like that but they are in a partnership with a company to develop stuff like this.
downloaded plumcaddy. seems cool. didnt have the course I played on yesterday (mapleridge) I am drawing the front nine today. If anyone has this and wants to finish the back it would be great. Its a free app for a limited time

hey I thought I read in here someone that had a yahoo app to manage pools. I couldn't find it. Anyone know? I am away this weekend and want to be able to set my pools up.
edit: nevermind googled it and found it. It's called Y! fan. Seems pretty sweet. The free one only lets you manage one team per sport though

I can't remember if I mentioned it already, but check out CardStar. You use it to replace all of those plastic membership cards, at least the ones that get scanned by a barcode.
I joined a place this morning and remembered I had dl'ed it, so I tried it. I just put in the number on the barcode, picked the encoding to make the barcode look the same on my phone as the card, and astonished the lady as I scanned my phone to get in!
They have tons of presets for common businesses and tons of options to customize the barcode so it will work with most scanners.
Pretty cool.

I have been playing the X2 Football (soccer) game lite version for a few days now. The lite version allows you several practice types, as well as a shootout. The controls are pretty good for an iphone sports game, and the instant replay feature is cool, too.
I would buy the full version, but I'm waiting to see what Fifa 10 will be like.

Was it finicky getting it to scan correctly once entered on the phone? I like the idea but I'm not sure how much futzing around I want to do each time I use it...

How have you found it?
Saw someone use their iphone to board a Westjet flight last week, that was pretty crazy.

It's probably worth a mention that this app is currently free. I like how on the website you can request a card be added. Not sure if they'll actually do it, but it could prove very useful if they do.

Scanned just like the card did, I was actually surprised at how easily it scanned.
Haven't tried it anywhere else yet though.

Any email capable device is capable of doing that. I've been doing that for at least half a year. You don't need a special app for it. When you do an online check-in, there is an option for them to email your boarding pass instead of printing it.

Unless you do it through Air Canada. They'll tell you it's been emailed, and then you'll wait an hour before the flight, call and complain, they'll send it again and it still won't get to you.

jtfrogger is right though, it's just an image.
With WestJet, it isn't an image. It is a simple text email with all the appropriate information.
