Took a look at the website you posted seems like a scam, your better of going to walmart or futureshop and picking up the arcade for $150, then sell yours on ebay for 100 and sumthin.

Do people buy Xbox's that don't work, and lack a hard drive?

People who are in the modding/repair business will buy them and fix and sell them or take them apart and sell the working parts.

ya for sure they either use it as a parts console, or they fix it themselves. Right now im seeing some from 70-100. If your looking at getting the arcade try to find the new ones with the jasper chips in them.

lol the new chip just decreases your chances of have the RROD, Attached to the motherboard is a new 65-nanometer graphic chip. This new chip will consume less power and run cooler. how old is the one you have right now? It will say on the box the lot number has to be above 09, take a look at this
http://www.360drives.com/list?sort=mfrdate look under board than look under LOT you will get the idea of what to look for.

The one I own right now is about a year and a half old.
The Lot number (by the barcode I assume you mean) says 0740.
So what your telling me is that if I buy a new arcade Xbox, it will have the new chip in it?
Side note: Does that external fan actually work? Is it worth the money?

ya 7040 most likely has the falcon chip which is suppose to be good, the jasper chip takes it to another level but they are hard to find here Edmonton/Calgary. Dont get the external fan Microsoft reccomends people not to use any third party fans.

I thought the point of the $50 off consoles is to get rid of the Older Falcon models and to have the newer Jasper models + the arcade will have 512 memory instead of 256. Not too big of a jump but still better than nothing.

ok the one you have is a lot number 0740 you want to look for a lot number that starts with 09, I was saying most stores wont have that because they are trying to clear out old stock first.
