Screw you, after this I began to love crows, magpies etc. Not because they are dumb, but because they are actually quite intelligent:

Do they pay taxes?

They have all the right to be there as he has all the right to shot them.

I LOVE MAGPIES. They are one of the most intelligent animals, they are on the higher end for birds. I always have a profound respect for their audacity with humans and their intelligence.

That said, if you really hate them, I would probably shoot at them with a BB gun. Being intelligent also means they learn quickly and have long memories of bad experiences. My parents once had a nasty bird that would litter our doorstep with droppings because there was a tree branch above it and he would perch there often. Despite being a bird lover, I shot the branch with a BB gun and the guy was totally surprised and fell right off because he could figure out what was happening but took flight before he hit the ground. He never came back.

It's a shame that cat didn't eat the damn thing. Actually, it's a shame they both didn't fight to the death.... that would've killed two birds with one stone.

These are my airsoft BB guns, call me if you need help.

But the $30 ones at Wal-Mart or Canadian Tire will do in a pinch. And seriously, don't hit the magpies. They are very smart and amazing birds, just plink close to them and spook them.

I wonder if some firecrackers might do the trick. Those could also be illegal..but noise is the most successful non-lethal animal deterrent.

See my thread on pigeons. Here's what I've researched.

Crosman 1377 $70 at Russel Sports on Heritage. 495 fps, just under the amount you need a FAC.

Hollowpoint pellets:

Though keep in mind technically it's against City bylaw to discharge a pellet gun in City Limits.

Man, don't kill the magpies, a 495 FPS metal pellet airgun is too much just get rid of some birds, plus it will damage his lawn furniture and fencing. Just get a BB gun for plastic bbs shooting in the 300 FPS range.

If they were so smart, they wouldn't annoy us at 5:00 a.m.

Magpies would feast on your carcass if they could.

Shooting a crow or magpie with a BB gun won't kill it. It'll make them fly away and find someone else to wake up every morning a 4:30am, and find another car to poop on.

Won't kill them, just hurts their feelings.

So would vultures, they are called scavengers, they are nature's cleanup crew. They don't stuff left over in non-biodegradable plastic bags that damage the planet.

If you were shot with that Crossman 1377 in the wrong place, you could die. It shoots metal pellets at 545 KPH.

Magpies are the Burrows/Keslers of the avian world.
