Yes, I believe so. It's been in a nose-dive since Stern left. This Amp format seems to have revived it...It should be pointed out that works it Los Angeles doesn't always work in Calgary though.

True dat. I might listen to CJAY a little more often if they didn't play the moldy oldies so often. Or, at the very least, if their "lost classics" weren't the same F'ing songs they play every day. The relative lack of that does give Edmonton's station a slight bump, since they do appeal more to people born after 1970.

That's what gets me about these types of formats. I'll listen and think, "Ohhh, there is a great song I haven't heard in years" then they will proceed to play that song regularly for months. Why? I'm sure there are probably tens of thousands of "great songs I haven't heard for years" yet there seems to be a specific subset that gets regular rotation which changes very slowly.

And it isn't like I listen to the radio all day at work. Generally it is my clock radio, drive to work, lunch, drive home, then if I'm driving anywhere.

There is a lot of great music and more new being made every day. Why does radio sound like somebody's 2GB iPod Nano set to repeat?

Exactly my thoughts. So, for a former Fuel listener, is X the best option now?

I dunno, Sat radio may not last. Even post merger they are losing money, losing subscribers, and the complaints about their cost cutting measures are piling up.

Despite the company’s best efforts to sugar coat it, Sirius XM is in trouble. The company shed just over 404,000 subscribers in the first quarter, as far as we can tell the first ever where the company combined or separate has done so.

Losses also widened to $236.6 million, more than double the $104.1 million loss a year earlier.

Not sure I want to pony up cash for a seat on a sinking ship.

Yeah, but you might get a chance to draw Kate Winslet naked.

Yes. It will be interesting to see how much of a bump X929 (and CJAY) get from that 1.8% share Fuel had, since I'd guess about 0.1% of those listeners will stick around.

And yeah, my car takes six presets on the FM dial. It took all of 5 seconds for 90.3's spot to be replaced by 97.7. For the first time in my life, a station that plays country is now a pre-set favourite. God I must be getting old.

I could tell by the way the dude on Fuel announced the news: "All the hits, all the time" in one long depressed monotone that it was not going to be a good switch. Sigh...

Cool! Do they play good country like Brad Paisley, or crappy country like that gay song about being in daddy's hands?

And I just realized that being a radio DJ has to be one of the worst jobs ever. At least bar DJs get hot women coming up all night asking them to play songs for them. A radio DJ has to sit in a studio and yap about crap and listen to the same music over and over and over and over and over and over and over.............Ugh.

This was the first time I listened to the end of radio station and the beginning of a new one.

At 5:45, Fuel announced that the tank was empty and now they will give what Calgarians "asked for", all hits, etc...sigh. They ended with the Miami Vice themesong and a couple of Greenday songs.

Then 90.3 AMP came on and man, it was terrible, I felt like puking. Just terrible. First sone was Beyonce or somethimg/

I would also like to share my disappointment. Generally, I WANT to like radio, but the stations make it so hard. Fuel played good music, unfortunately, the same 100 songs on a loop. I still, begrudgingly, listened, hoping for something different.

I preferred Fuel's morning folk to the ######bags on X92.9. However, I did recently discover a gem on X92.9. Every day at 6:00 PM. It is quite a treat.

I suppose it is back to X92.9 for me. CJAY hasn't been programmed into my dial for a few years now, and I don't suspect it will ever find it's way back.

Brad Paisley is lame. Evidence... country songs about going online, being a metrosexual etc. That shart isn't music, it's some crappy attempt at comedy.

Effectively it's Lite 96 with pop-country thrown in. Basically, it's there for when X929 is playing something awful... then I just rotate through Jack, Cjay, Lite, Energy and 977 looking for something to kill the next three minutes.

Used to be about 40% X, 40% fuel, 15% Jack and 5% everything else (outside of hockey season, of course). Now, probably 70% X, 25% Jack, 0% Amp and 5% everything else.
