We have two Golden's and four cats. The cats love the dogs . . . . well, maybe Polly just tolerates them.

The retaliation is to chase Gretz up a tree.

Since this has turned into a pet show & tell, here's our pooch since I haven't posted him before in any of these pet threads.

Funny you should mention that. When I was in hawaii last Christmas I passed a guy on the street walking his dog....and his goat. Stopped and chatted a bit, he mentioned that the goat was a great pet except that it would eat literally anything so you had to be careful what you left around the house.

Interesting to say the least...the goat was sure cute though. It was smaller than the dog, which was a medium-sized one.

ok well my puppy is really fun, but today she is breathing very quickly while sleeping, like maybe a couple seconds per breath and I am worried she is sick or hurt. She yanked herself on the leash pretty hard today.

Am I being paranoid or do dogs usually breath small breaths?

edit: she seems ok, I think she just needed a poop... she's really energetic and happy, and before she was breathing heavy. I don't think she's quite learnt after two days how to properly tell her owners she needs to go out! For two days though, she's been a great learner.

Since everyone else was posting pics of their animals here are a few to my sister's cat who I catsit for every once and a while.

Her name is Tula. She is the same breed as the Royale TP cats I think. Except Tula was kind of a freak when she was born. Not only does she have spots, is super scared of every little sound but she's about the size of a football. That and her breed don't have very good balance so she falls a lot. Hence the photos of her on the 15ft high ledge from our upstairs.

I am a cat person I guess. We have two of the damn things. Their mods swing wildly at times. They can be overly affectionate and want to be around all the time or they can be really grumpy and completely hate your guts.

The one cat will always wait by the door for you when you come home, she can hear the footsteps and will jump up onto the bench by the door for when you walk in.

I had a nasty flu with a high temp. over Christmas and that damn cat would sit right beside for hours on end. When I would moan she would jump up and lick my forehead. It was more care than I got from my loving wife...

We live in an apartment so cats are all we get. I think it unfair to the dogs especially the bigger breeds to not have a yard to let them out into. Dogs need space and we cannot provide it just yet. If I ever get out of this soul sucking hell hole, aka vancouver, I might be able to afford a decent place to live and then I will get a dog. Leaning towards a rotti...

Get a harness. It's really easy to seriously hurt a puppy or small dog with a collar.

Cats are awesome.

Small dogs are cool too, but only the non-yippy ones. Basically, they should just be dog-cats.

Btw, my goal in life is to one day own a miniature lion. Just like a real lion with a mane, but as small as a large house cat. One that roars all the time, too. I imagine I'll have to be very rich and have a lot of geneticist friends in order to make it happen, but you never know.

Imagine this:

But this sized:

Tell me that wouldn't rule.

Well we've had her for a week, and she is learning to do her business on the newspapers by the door (not always, but pretty good).

I just got bitter apple spray so she doesn't chew stuff that belongs to the landlord or dangerous stuff.

This is probably the most spoiled dog in the world. We have about 20 toys and 5 types of treats for her. She is biting us though, which is something I want to stop soon.

Rub A5-35, Bengay, Tiger Balm or similar type analgesics rubbed on your hands cures this. Puppies don't like it.

She thinks you're a dog.

Puppies play by grabbing each other by the mouths. A lot of dog playing centres around grabbing something with the mouth. Their pain threshold and padding is quite a bit different than your own.

She has to learn - hopefully soon - that you're a little different than a dog. Better to do it now rather than when they're bigger and it hurts a lot more.

When your pup bites you during play just yell out "Ow!!!" and immediately stop playing/touching the dog. After a waiting a minute or so just pick up where you left off. They'll learn that if they want to keep playing they'll have to do it on your rules.
