I really enjoy soccer and keep trying to get into it, but it's very hard to pick a team. When I was younger I spent a lot of time watching soccer with a guy (basically a grandfather figure to me) that was a big Tottenham fan, so I've always kind of had a soft spot for them.
If I were to cheer for the teams that are close to where my family is from, then I'd be looking at cheering for perennial Div II & III doormats like Plymouth Argyle F.C. or Exeter City F.C.
Exeter Grecians!
My grandparents moved to Exeter a few years back. I've actually been to a couple games at their ground.
They got promoted to League One!

Cheering for doormats is fun! Cheer for promotion and beating a giant in the FA Cup.

I grew up in Wallasey which is over the water (the River Mersey) from Liverpool so the first team my parent's allowed me to watch were Tranmere Rovers who hail from Birkenhead. Liverpool was just too scary for them!
Tranmere were in the old Division 4 at the time, the real doormat of the league. They were consistently in the bottom half and almost went into non league one year. Thing is, it was great supporting a team like that. Every win was a huge accomplishment. You really felt a part of it. I have three favourite memories following this team. In 1987 they HAD to beat Exeter City to stay in the pros. It was a really tense match but the Rovers prevailed 1-0 and the scenes of pure joy afterwards were incredible. Grown men crying and hugging each other.
The next one was when the Rovers were playing Crewe and both teams had the chance of promotion. Lo and behold the teams drew 1-1 and both went up. After the match both sets of fans ran onto the field shaking each others hands and hugging. Genuine sportsmanship. That really was what it is all about.
Lastly, an incredible match in the FA Cup against Southampton of the Premier League.
I won't write about it. Watch the video to see why I love this team. Liverpool will always be my No.1 team but Tranmere are a real close second.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

WOW....what a great game!!!.....That was fun to watch......Martin Tyler is just pure magic.....his reaction to the fourth goal is priceless....."Oh my word!! BARLOW!!!"......awesome.
I love watching FA Cup and promotion playoff games for that reason, so many of them involve a ton of drama. Any match with that much at stake is fun to watch, but it's especially so when it's teams that are scrapping just for the chance to be considered massive underdogs in the next round or higher division.

I don't remember the full details but a draw could have meant only one of them went up depending on other results. I think with 20 minutes or so to go the other game was a foregone conclusion and both teams were safe to go up at that point so then it became a stroll in the park for both teams literally. It was a carnival atmosphere in the whole stadium then.
With Kaka and Ronaldo out of the transfer market David Villa is the next hot commodity. Last week it looked like Real was ahead of everyone trying to get the star striker but with Barca's new offer I think that Real's bid is pretty much done for.
The Blaugrana are reportedly set to make an official €50 million offer, €40m in cash plus Martin Caceres and Bojan Krkic (on loan), a proposal that easily outmatches Los Blancos’ €25 million plus Alvaro Negredo bid.

I dont understand that though, Spain is insane, staying within Spain and moving from your team to Real Madrid would enrage millions...
I think it's because his game is more suited for the Spanish league. I'm not saying that he wouldn't do well in England but who knows, whatever his reasons are his still bound to make a lot of people very angry. A good friend of mine is a huge Arsenal fan and he's still pretty mad about loosing Thiery Henry.
Liverpool have apparently won the race to sign English right back Glen Johnson. Nothing confirmed yet, but usually once the speculation ramps up to this level, it's done. Either way, Portsmouth have admitted that they have accepted a bid, and I believe the 3 teams in the running were ManCity, Liverpool and Chelsea. http://www.football365.com/mailbox/s...383750,00.html
Steep fee I suppose, but everything's expensive now. I'm also confident that if Rafa spends 17 million pounds, he'll be better than Arbeloa or Dossena...or he's just making a strong effort to increase our English player #s, for the upcoming 6+5 rule that UEFA is thinking of implementing.
