Mini Camp would be mandatory. Mike Vrabel who was brought in by Scott Pioli to be a leader on the defense is skipping, or has skipped, Mini Camp with the Chiefs. What kind of leadership does that show? I guess when you go from the Patriots to the 2-14 Chiefs, its hard to care.

There were no un-excused absences at the 49er minicamp. There were a number who weren't there, but all had the team's blessings.

From my understanding there is a lot of info that is very blurry when it comes to this case. Vick never gambled, he simply funded the operation by buying dogs, buying the house, giving money for anything needed.

Not that too many people should care anymore, but Brett Favre was on HBO with Joe Buck and said he is contemplating returning and the Vikings are the only team he has spoken to.

He provided the venue for illegal gambling. Isn't dog fighting illegal because it is a form of illegal gambling? Not to mention the type of people he would have been associating with. I'm pretty sure there is more than one unsavory character hanging around a dog fighting ring.
If you factor in the potential backlash because of the animal cruelty aspect. Why would the NFL take a chance with this guy? Does the NFL need Michael Vick? I'm sure the only reason this guy even gets a shot is because of the players union. He had his chance to make million and millions of dollars and he blew it. Too bad so sad. Why should anybody outside of Mike Vick's world care?

Marshall might want out of Denver?
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html
I heard this on ESPN last night as well. Something about his new contract and the way the Broncos treated him about his sore hip (or something).
Quite the off season for the Broncos.

Marshall is just another prima donna of the T.O ilk.

Donte Stallworth only gets 30 days in jail for killing a guy. The kind of preferential treatment athletes are given in the U.S. is unreal.

wow. I appreciate the fact that he's taken full responsibility, but 30 days for taking a life? That is insane.

Its pathetic. Wasn't Stallworth drunk at the time? Strong evidence suggests that Marvin Harrison shot a guy, he hasn't spent a second in jail as far as I know. OJ cuts his ex wifes head off, he walks free. If it wasn't for the fact that OJ's latest crime was caught on video, he probably would have walked again.

Pretty sure if I pulled the same stunt I'd be locked up for at least a couple of years.
EDIT: Not to mention that Stallworth has had some past run-ins involving alcohol.

Compare that to the Mike Danton case (sp?). He was talking about arranging a murder across state lines. What does he get? 10 years? Stallworth runs over an innocent man who just finished work and was trying to catch a bus. 30 days.

Stallworth was .126. That is almost twice the legal limit in most places. To put it in perspective some kid in Ohio killed his mom, might be crazy and got 23 years in jail, and he's only 17yo. Stallworth, a grown man, murders an innocent construction worker, only faces 15 years max and gets 30 days.
Oh wait I forgot it is the States, apparently Stallworth paid off the deceased guys family so they are happy because at they got some money out of the deal.

I wonder if the fact that the person who was killed was jaywalking had any bearing on the sentencing?

Lets see what sort of penalty he gets from the NFL in relation to what Vick gets.

Sports or not - wow.
I cannot believe that alcohol is a legal excuse for anything. No matter who it is, it makes me sick.

Some good Peter King articles
1: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ail/index.html vis a vi Brandon Marshall among other things
2: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...oks/index.html concerning the McNabb contract, upcoming Brady negotiations (crazy what type of salary he is making vis a vi others) and some more classic Peter King going down on Roger Goddell. I hope Peter gets a discount on knee pads.

Has Vick even received a penalty from the NFL yet? I know he was suspended indefinitely. I'm sure his lawyer would argue that he has served his time. Personally, I think he should be suspended for a season or two at the least. What time he missed while he was in jail should not count toward his NFL suspension. We all know he would not have been able to play in the NFL while incarcerated anyway.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't think he's been suspended from the league. All reports I see on TV and read on the intertubes, says that Goddell and Vick are meeting at the end of July to discuss the next step, including a likely suspension.
I expect a full season starting this year and making him eligible to sign with a team sometime a year from now. It will be very interesting to see how Goddell handles the potential suspensions of Vick, Burress and Stallworth going forward. He's going to have to have a pretty measured response to each that takes into account all factors of their behavior to avoid looking like the NHL's system of justice.
