I saw this on Tuesday. I think I laughed the hardest at Mike Tyson having them sing chorus to In The Air Tonight and then knocking out Alan. There was just something about him laying there on his stomach that made me laugh hysterically.
Loved the movie.

Saw this today, and I'm a bit disappointed. There were some funny bits, but it certainly wasn't the quotable non-stop laugh riot I was expecting.
Oh well, looks like other people enjoyed it quite a bit.

Agree completely with Tyler. Maybe all the hype I saw here ruined it, but it really wasn't as epically hilarious as people built it up to be.
Funny movie with 1 or 2 quotable lines, but no reason to see this ASAP in the theater.
Question in white (Spoiler):
They should have delved into what happend in the hotel room. Maybe I mised something, but did they explain the used condom in the car? Are we supposed to assume one of them sodomized the naked china man?

^re. the stuff in white - I think that's what made the movie work - they didn't explain everything...including the chicken in the hotel room. That for me adds to the hilarity.
Loved this movie. Laughed from start to finish - a great time.

I just came back from seeing it. Pretty funny stuff!
I always wondered why they didn't call it a floorie.

Answer..(in white, just to be safe)
In the pictures at the end they show the china man with a massive black hooker. They're going at it in the backseat of the car.

Ok, so then I guess he crawled buck naked into the trunk to sleep, losing his purse in the process? Why was he such a feral animal when they opened the trunk?
I'm totally overanalysing a brainless comedy.

It was good, but not THAT good. People are calling it the funniest movie they've ever seen?! Better than The Big Lebowski, Monty Python, Office Space, Spinal Tap etc?!?!
I don't even think it's the funniest Todd Phillips movie ever - I'd say it's on-par with Starsky & Hutch, but well below Old School's standard.
Though that's not to say I didn't enjoy it immensely. It was great, and certainly had its moments. But for me it was primarily a chuckler, not a "my-stomach-hurts-and-i-might-whizz-in-my-pants-from laughing"-er.
I think part of the problem was that, other than the Carlos bit at breakfast and the credit slideshow, they literally ruined every single one of the funniest parts of the movie in the trailer (Tyson, tiger in bathroom, lost a tooth/married a whore, hospital visit, police car valet, door slam/baby face, taser in the face) literally all of moments are shown in the trailer. That is an epic way to kill any of the spontenaity of what would have been a far, far better experience than what it was.

They also explained that Phil thought the chinese guy was his lucky charm and kidnapped him and the purses got mixed up because Alan ha the same one.

I just didn't buy it. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood but none of the jokes rang true and that's the biggest part of comedy, truth.
5/10.
Observe and Report was the comedy of this year IMO.

I really enjoyed it. I'm going to rate it on par with old school, ahead of knocked up and just behind forgetting Sarah marshall and 40 year old virgin (my favorite).

Truth is the biggest part of a comedy movie? Wow you must just be brutal to watch any comedy with!
What exactly didn't you buy?

While generally I would agree with you, for some reason step brothers bothered me for this reason. I can't explain it, but the fact that they appeared only about 15 years younger than the parents bothered me. Yes, I realize that was the gag, but for whatever reason I couldn't get into it.

But see that's where the story breaks down - how did having sex with a black hooker in the back of their car transform into kidnapping?

Wow, based on your assessments of these two movies, I'm going to say that you have the worst taste in comedies I've ever seen.
You're basing the fact that The Hangover wasn't funny on it not being believeable, yet you use Observe and Report as an example of a funny movie (which presumably means you think it rings true).
Wow...just....wow.
That movie had about 8 seconds that were funny specifically "Why are you stopping M*****F*****" and when he shoots the guy, that's it, that's all that was funny.

How can people not like the Hangover? Honestly, come on people. For me I would rate all the movies people have been mentioning like this (I included my fav. Pineapple Express):
1. Knocked Up
2. Old School
3. Pineapple Express
4. The Hangover
5. 40 Year Old Virgin
6. Superbad (Super overrated)
7. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (I like Jason Segel, but I found this movie boring and too long)
Haven't seen Observe and Report yet, but it was only in theaters for like 2.5-3 weeks, so my expectations are super low.
And liamenator, how could you say The Hangover is on-par with Starsky and Hutch, that movie was barely funny. I am one of the few who liked the movie, and thought it was more of an action movie than comedy, because it wasn't funny. But I agree, the trailer ruined the movie, a lot of the big gags (tiger, tooth missing, hitting baby), are totally ruined by the trailor. The Hangover is way better than Starsky and Hutch.
I haven't seen the other movies you mentioned.
And I don't see why critics are hailing this as Bradley Cooper's coming out movie, I didn't think he was that good. The guy with the huge beard was way way way funnier, and I thought Ed Helms was better (but I am a huge Ed Helms fan).

lol i think your missing it....
the hooker has nothing to do with the story. Phil kidnapped the asian guy because they hit a lucky streak gambling and thought he was the lucky charm. It had nothing to do with the hooker. The hooker didnt have anything to do with anything.
