Text from computer

Is there a way for me to send a text message from my computer to a cell phone? I don't know what the cell-phone carrier is. If I can do this, how?

Carrier websites always have them, but if you don't know the carrier...

With MSN, I'm pretty sure the receiver has to pay (I know with Fido, I have to pay)

Skype, I know the sender has to pay... the receiver, I have no idea.

They probably classify it as a "special" text message so they can charge for it.

If you're on a Mac, try googling sms_widget or something to that effect. It's free and doesn't cost anything. Only problem is that you are identified by your email...I suppose you could just put your name in there though.
