Default Will Ferrel on Man v. Wild

Not sure if anyone else is watching this but Will Ferrel is on tonight's Man v. Wild - just a very strange piece of TV but kudos to the guy for even trying it. Worth checking out.

I downloaded it the other day, its not bad, but Bear Grylls babies him. I was hoping they would go somewhere near a volcano for some reason, the cold + Will Ferrell cuddling up to Bear just... no..

FYI Will's taking this seriously, he's not in gonzo mode or anything.

Actually, he looks downright terrified.

If you like Will Ferrell, you'll probably like this.

I didn't find it hysterical, but I found it to be good for a few laughs. As Jiri said... worth checking out.

Just caught the last bit where he was hanging off the helicopter ladder and the closing comments from both.

Hell of a difference watching Man vs Wild and Survivorman.

Anytime I watch Survivorman all he seems to do is catch nothing and get sick whilst being cold and miserable. At the same time not taking anything away from him he "appears" to be carrying round his own camera etc and does appear to be genuinely isolated.

Man vs Wild has more insight into plants/sources of food etc but seems to be more scripted (e.g. finding a fresly dead camel in the desert) and appears to have more 'on hand' back up ... i.e. someone to carry the camera.

On youtube if you care to bother.

Les Stroud > Bear Grylls btw as Man vs Wild is at least in part faked. Stays in hotels, uses tame animals etc. Both compelling television however.

bear grylls - last season got caught 'cheating' on his show, he was stranded RIGHT next to a highway -- his goal (for those who dont watch) used to always be to find a road or some sort of form of civilized life.
now before the show there is some disclaimer about it, and he focuses a lot more on tactics to help you survive.

the trick with the sticks as an anchor was pretty cool. lot of it seemed staged, but fun to watch.

Bah they are complaining about potentially getting frost bite in 20 below. When I was in grade school the teachers used to lock us out side during recess in colder.

I gotta say, my favourite part of that episode is where Will Farrell says that he's misplaced his penis.

Yeah, even in minus 35 weather the teachers made us stay outside, if we tried to come in they would yell at us and send us back out. No gloves or touque and you tell me I can't come inside? F*** you.

Survivorman is the REAL deal. Man vs Wild is completely staged and fake.

-22 I was told (don't ask me how they got arrived at that number) at my kids school before they let them in.

Bear Gryllis was caught going to a hotel to sleep at night only a few miles away shuttling back and forth to film his "stranded" segments in the daytime.

He has an entire camera crew with him. Many of the things are scripted for him and pre-prepared.
