Alternative travel to Winnipeg - Suggestions
I'm heading to Winnipeg this summer for a family wedding and would like use an alternative form of transport. I'll fly if necessary but have some time off and want to try something new.
Methods of transportation ruled out:
- Greyhound. Don't want my head chopped off on the Loser Cruiser.
- Driving my own car. I will need to fly home on the return.
- Stowaway in a Coyotes moving van on the way to the MTS Centre.
Any ideas? I know that some rental car companies, Uhaul or RV companies like to have their fleet placed around the country but haven't been able to find links.
Cue the Winnipeg jokes and thanks for the help.

Rental companies in Canada like to bend you over if you wish to pick up in one community, and drop off in another.
Bus to Edmonton and take VIA Rail?

I took VIA Rail from Winnipeg to Vancouver a few years ago and it was pretty awesome. Probably because of the mountains though. Edmonton to Winnipeg might be the most boring thing ever.

When is your wedding? I'm going to be driving out there for Canada Day, and likely again for the August long weekend.

Thanks anyway.

Any reason why you can't drive your car back?

Catch a WestJet seat sale. It's probably cheaper than driving considering summer gas prices.

It's a good thing there's no water between here and Winnipeg, because we all know that hoverboards don't work on water...unless you've got POWER!

Float down the Bow river, then the South Saskatchewan River, pull and and get into the Qu'appelle River (I'm not sure how far between, it looks relatively close on the map), which turns into the Assinaboine river, which flows through Winnipeg.
Or just stay on the South Saskatchewan, it'll turn into the Saskatchewan River, which drains into Lake Winnipeg. Then you can paddle south and up the Red river into Winnipeg.
