Tuesdays show was a 5.0 compared to Letterman at 3.0. And every time I turn to CBS I see a Letterman commercial

Ha! Gizmodo has outed a major geek side to the new show:

Mad props to Conan if this is true.

Definitely pretty cool, but keep in mind there's a fairly sizable staff behind the scenes...this was probably the work of an interior design/architecture team. They're probably the ones who deserve your props.

Weird, awkward Conan humor that people weren't used to at that time I guess, but funny nonetheless.
People were so out of touch then. The man was a huge part of SNL's gigantic ratings in the years immediately preceding his debut on Late Night. 1987-1991 are, in my opinion, at the very top of the list of great SNL seasons.

People didn't know he wrote for the show...it was the same stuff.

Yesterday was the first new episode I was able to catch.

I was amazed and somewhat relieved to find that it's basically the same show, just with a new and grander set.

I was sure the show would be curtailed and modified to suit a different audience. Nope, Conan knows his winning formula and isn't about to change. So excited. Hopefully the ratings will be there so we can continue to enjoy classic Conan humour for decades to come.

A lot of people kept saying that, but he said right in his last episode that he wasn't going to change.

And while on Late Night, he was writing some of the greatest Simpsons episodes of all time.

i was never a regular watcher of Late Night when Conan was hosting, but after watching the first few episodes of his Tonight Show i've set it as a series recording on my PVR. he now joins Stewart and Colbert as the only late night guys that can keep me entertained for a solid hour

I wouldn't know about that. I'm one of the 3 or 4 people in the world that thinks The Simpsons is anti-funny.

Depends what era you're talking about. For me, 1992-96 was when it was gold(especially 93-95), that era of Simpsons is still one of my favourite shows of all time. But anything post-98 IMO is just crap. That show's been bad waaaay longer than it was good, I can't believe its still on the air actually.

btw can't believe I missed last night's Conan! I was watchin TV too, I'm just still used to thinking "Conan at 1:30". I agree with the board that he has been absolute money all week. I think in 2-3 more years he's going to be way bigger than Leno ever was.

The best thing about Conan moving to NBC is now I can watch both Conan and Craig Ferguson.
