Yeah the Kotaku live blog is about 5 minutes ahead of the feed. I'll probably just read it since it doesn't seem like there will be much hilarity here.

That's hilarious. You're totally right. She obviously is trying to balance out the over the top crazy of last year.

Mario looked like old school 2D Mario with four players at once. My big concern is that players can be lost off the screen if they don't keep up with the player furthest ahead.

The same could have been said for LittleBigPlanet and I LOVED how that turned out.

Call me crazy, but I think they are trying to grab a certain demographic here ...

Plus it makes perfect sense with the competitive aspect of the co-op.

It's just as much about killing the most bad guys, collecting the most coins, and getting the highest score as it is about beating the level.

Why do they show these girly and kids games at this press conference? I highly doubt anyone in the audience cares. The people these games are targeted for probably don't know what an E3 is and they're definitely not in the audience.

They're thinking industry professionals first, consumers 2nd.

My guess is they are very aware of this, but e3 is just as much (perhaps more) for the investors. They know girls are an untapped resource and the ds/wii is good at getting in there. edit: ya what the mastadon said.

Personally I've stopped what I'm doing, because I need my whole body to hate Nintendo right now.

E3 has always been an industry trade show. The companies show off their games with the main intent of generating interest at retailers; getting consumers interested was always secondary. Kiddie games sell well, hence they have a place in key note for Nintendo.

Frustrating, I know.

Edit: beat to the punch twice. I guess that's why they have the preview button. I'll put something here that isn't a waste of space.

I'm oddly not despising Nintendo this time, but they have plenty of time to make me angry again. I'm hoping that whatever RPGs they are trying to dish out aren't a piece of crap.

The trailer for Assassin's Creed 2 was amazing. I loved the first game, and it's a great starting point for should be an amazing sequel.

E3 is the only gaming convention that will get any coverage from the mainstream media.

That's exactly why Nintendo's "bad" conferences are bad - because they realize that this is their best chance to sell to the mainstream market. If they unveil a new Zelda the hardcore fan will hear about it no matter where or when they do it. But when they unveil Wii Fit Plus, the casual fan has a lot harder time finding out about it.
