Default U of C football player tests positive for steroids

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/sto...-steroids.html

Duncan McLean, a backup linebacker who has played for the team for the last three years, tested positive for oxymetholone metabolites, a banned substance according to the 2009 World Anti-Doping Agency's prohibited list.

The steroid, available under the brand name Anadrol, can cause serious side effects, including cysts, tumours or liver failure.

He doesn't look like a steroid user at all.

I don't know. An athlete at the biggest school in Calgary, playing the most popular (fan wise) sport at that school tests positive for steroids.

It's been reported about on the Fan 960 the last couple days.

Also, the 17 pages of threads dedicated to steroids would lead me to believe this is popular topic.

Thanks for adding to the discussion though.

Why bother with steroids in the CIS? There is not exactly a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow.

Also I'd argue that if you're a backup Linebacker at the tender age of 25 in the CIS, your muscle-bound career posibilities are pretty much limited to doorman. Not worth dying at age 39 for.

Not exactly shocking news though.

I guarantee there's more than couple Calgary high school football players roiding up too. It's the age we live in.

I think that it definately shows the widespread use of steroids accorss all sports. If a backup line backer with no professional future is using you can guarentee a good portion of the CFL and NFL and for that matter NHL are using them as well. So Until we see cycling style drug testing in our sports you will never truely see the scope of the doping going on.

I always said they should have separate leagues and Olympics for the roid monkeys! Personally I would love to see how fast a human can run all jacked up or imagine how high a gymnastic could get off one of those spring boards.
