CPHL Awards Nominations 08-09
Alright GM’s time to get this thing rolling and put a fork into the 2008-09 Season, plus say thanks to looob and the Buffalo Sabres for saving Calgary Puck the embarrassment of having the Oilers possibly winning a championship on this site. But before we can say goodbye and get the offseason on its way, we have to take a bit to look back this seasons standouts and hand out some hardware!
Please submit your selections for the awards listed below to cphlawards0809@yahoo.ca by Sunday, May 31st at midnight. Pleas put your team email in the subject line so I know which Gm's voted and which need a kick in the arse
This is a mandatory exercise for all GMs.
I’ve started threads for the Sergei Priakin Award and the Darryl Sutter Award so that we have a list of names to choose from…. For the Sergei Priakin Award every team MUST reply with their teams representative for that award

Cliff Fletcher Award - Best CPHL GM Award voted on by all GMs
Gary Suter Award - An annual award "to the defenceman" who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Tim Hunter Award - Best CPHL goon award is voted on by all GMs...combo of toughness and PIM.
Sergei Priakin Award - Most underrated CPHL player voted on by all CPHL clubs.
D'arcy McGrath Award - Best Message Board poster award as voted on by all CPHL clubs.
Hakan Loob Award - an annual award given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Mike Vernon Award - an annual award given to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at this position as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Lanny McDonald Award - an annual award given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Sergei Makarov Award - an annual award given to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the CPHL as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Dwayne Hay Award - an annual award given to the player selected as the least effective player in the CPHL as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Roman Turek Award - an annual award given to the player selected as the most overpaid player in the CPHL as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Darryl Sutter Award - an annual award given to the GM selected as the best 1st year GM as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Coach Of The Year Award - an annual award given to the coach selected to be the best CPHL coach of the regular season as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.
Doug Riseborough Award - an annual award given to the GM selected as the GM who made the worst deal(s) as voted by the general managers of all CPHL clubs.

To make these things a little less strategic... and to prevent the Theodore Hart type of voting/blocking... you CAN NOT vote for any of your own players

Just want to mention is there any way to change the stats page back to the regular season stats, rather than playoffs? That might make some of these selections easier...

I think we have way too many awards. Isn't 14 a tad much?
Also, can we get a link to the individual leaders list from the regular season?

I assume we can't pick our own players for allstar teams either? I don't want to rip off any of my guys that I think deserve nominations while other teams inflate their own players. There is a fair amount of cap at stake for these.

Not too worry Sly, no one will be able to inflate thier players totals... I won't be counting any votes for such players.
There was one time during the All Star voting process that there were a couple GM's doing a voting system that would select lesser players in the other conference to gain the advantage in the game.... pretty much took the spirt of the game out of it
So unless the league tells me otherwise, I won't be counting self votes

Reminder, lets get those votes in by Sunday midnight,
