im excited about both Backlund and Nemisz. Not to mention Wahl, Aulie, Negrin, Irving, Brodie, Greentree, Armstrong, and Bouma. On another topic does anyone know if the Flames gave Pheonix our 1st rounder this year or next? THN draft issue has the Coyotes with our pick, but I still had not heard anything otherwise.

Flames 1st rounders who won Memorial Cups:
-Greg Nemisz (2009; Windsor)
-Gary Roberts (1984; Ottawa)
-Al MacInnis (1982; Kitchener)
Cory Stillman was on a Peterborough team that were runners-up, so Backlund's in pretty good company, too.

And didn't Jarome Iginla win 2 memorial cups in Jr? He is kind of a Flames 1st rounder??
Nemisz will also have another chance next year again, and with Taylor Hall another year older and Nemisz growing into his frame more they will certainly have a good base to build on.
Pretty wicked really, I am back to being more excited about Nemisz than Backlund! (And Backlund himself is obviously a good prospect too.)

To bad the Kelowna goalie choked in the big game. Windsor deserves credit though, they shut down Kelowna with their heavy checking to preserve the win.

Yes, the next season is going to be great, I'm so glad I took the plunge and got season tickets for next year. Can't wait.

Yep it was dull to the max. Watched the first couple of goals and turned the channel. Checked back later and it was 3 zip and went back to whatever else it was I was watching. Too bad the guy picks the last game to stink.

I think Adam Brown did a pretty good job stopping shots... He gave Kelowna a chance to get back in but couldn't really put much past Engelage
I was hoping Backlund would step up and take charge after Benn was down for a bit, but he didn't dominate like I think he would...

Nice to note that the Flames have four players in their system who have won a Memorial Cup in the past three years: Nemisz, Wahl, Bouma, and Watt.
