I wouldn't worry too much. A series on the road against the Red Sox without Haillday. A sweep was expected.

Now lets see how they do in Atlanta who are pretty bad. Halliday starting off the series will help alot!

It's important for the Jays to beat up on the weak National League this year.

Its not, lots of folks have said the same thing all year. Jays have played great which is nice to see. However can they keep up the pace....

Another point to note the Jays have played very few games against the big three in their Division. So far they have not played well against the Yanks or the RedSox (lost 5 out 6).

Rios and Wells have been terrible for two and a quarter seasons now. This isn't the bubble bursting. This is 1/3 of your payroll, your 3 and 4 hitter, playing below average defence (Rios at least), not driving in runs, not hitting with RISP, and looking like cancers on the field.

Every game in the Boston series these guys had a chance for a big hit and FAILED. Up 7-1? Here comes the Rios HR. Wells will go 2-5 with 2 singles and leave 7 guys on base.

It's as predictable as a Bertuzzi stupid penalty or the Oilers missing the playoffs

Is the National League that weak this year?

It isn't like there are a ton of great teams in the AL and it looks like this is the year that the NL may have made up some ground on the AL.

Because no one really believed the Flames or Jays were THAT good?

I am happy with the moves made today, but I can't help but wonder (I hope it's not the case) if Snider is just down for the Braves series as they know he will see zero playing time over the weekend? I'd like to see him stay there for a bit as he is contributing only on a Vernon Wells-like level right now, and that's not what we need.

I am looking forward to seeing Janssen again. He was great in the bullpen in '07, and has a 0.7ish ERA in 5 minor league starts. I also want to see more Romero, so this is all good. Also, some seasoning in the minors for Cecil is not a bad thing at all.

On a different note, the Jays website says "Rogers Preview" for tv tonight. I have never heard of it, so can I assume we get no tv coverage of Doc tonight?

The game is on TBS for those that get it.

Are you saying that because Wells looks lazy out there, or because he looks afraid to make the plays he used to?

Just wondering, as there is no wrong answer to the above question.

That's simply based on a pile of advanced fielding statistics. Wells was absolutely brutal is nearly all of them. He was is the same range as guys like Cust or Dunn.

And there's your ball game.

Is there any point in watching Rios and Wells ground out to end the game in the 9th?

Wells is a joke. Sit that guy on the bench already.

4 ABs, 4 weak-ass ground-outs.

The last 4 games look hauntingly familiar to last year, with the pitching alot worse (excluding Doc of course)

Casey Janssen starts tonight.

He has been solid in his 5 minor league starts, I'm sure he'll have quite the pitch count, but I'm really looking forward to his return. It sure has been a while.

Another couple of 0-4 with no walk nights for the dynamic duo of Wells and Rios.

You knew the rest of the line-up was going to slow down a bit after their torrid start. Now's the time for Wells and Rios to step up, but of course those two losers both come up with nothing in the clutch.

Batting order means very little in terms of generating additional runs, but those two need to be moved down in the order just to send a message. You can't have .742 and .731 OPS's in the meat of your order and just leave it be.
