Yeah I didn't catch that either. The only thing thinking back that makes me think something was up, was when the rookie asked the female what was wrong with him, and she said there are many theories.

I thought it was pretty good. I might have an extra interest in it since I'm in the application process with the RCMP though. I'm always interested in television about rookie cops on the job. Speaking of which, there was a reality show on A&E about rookie cops in Tampa (called "Rookies"). If anyone hasn't seen it it's definitely worth the watch.

I must say, I usually don't pay attention to series premieres cos 9 times out of 10 they get canceled. That aside, I am hoping NBC gives this show a chance. It apparently faired better than ER did for most of the season so hopefully that translates to extension/renewal! I definitely got my PVR set for this week's episode!

I hope CTV airs it in a later time slot without the censoring.

I was very impressed..Mckenzie looks perfect for the role.
I can just hope this show won't be the reason NBC will drop Chuck (in my mind the best show on tv as of right now)

The Unusuals on the other hand... not so sure about it.

I liked The Unusuals a lot more than Southland . . . . . both were good though.
Of course he's gay. They alluded to this several times in the episode. Are you just kidding? You really didn't notice this before the end sequence?
Flew right over my head too. I kept seeing butt-kicking Bull from Band of Brothers not butt . . . . well, you know.

i didnt catch the Gay references at all ... and I also watched the Unusuals and thought it was aweful ... although i turned it off half way through, i just cant buy into Amber Tamblyn as a grizzled vice cop. the characters were not believable.

That was sort of what I felt too.. The cast was just terrible to me.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Life as well, but I am starting to wonder if I like it more because of Damien Lewis and his Band Of Brothers role. I enjoy watching Life, but I can't help get bored during the main storylines. The whole Charlie Crews prison set-up...etc is a far more compelling storyline, but they rarely focus on it. Now I haven't watched the season finale yet, but I am continuously disappointed at what little role it plays. The main crimes they investigate are lame.

Ok, I watched the LIFE finale, and that is exactly what that show should be like each and every episode.

I keep expecting Bull to pull a cigar out of his glock.

Missed the season premiere but caught the second episode. I'm not usually a fan of cop shows but this one has potential. I think the casting is pretty good.

How is nobody watching this show? It's sucha gem and I'm really surprised not many people are saying much about it. It has so much potential.

I'm watching it. I think its fantastic.
The characters are great. There's plenty of them and they don't waste too much time on one or two main characters, taking time to develop them alll and add backstory and depth to them all. The cuts between scenes are sharp and abrupt.
Speaking of which, I love the camera work in this series. They play with depth of field, camera movement, zooming in on symbolic objects -- its genius. A good example is last night when the black female cop ( I can't remember her name ) walks into her appartment totally out of the depth of field, walks towards the camera and comes perfectly into focus as we see her exapserated expression.
When I first saw NBC was doing yet another cop show I groaned and thought we were going to get a CSI:LA, but it won me over in the first episode.

I really like the show. I love how they give us a glimpse of everyones problems but don't spend too much time on it.
I am still in denial about Bull being gay but they give us peeks at it every episode. I thought that dude was gonna plant one on him last night in the bathroom.

This is a really great show, unfortunately by the time I figured it out the, the season was more or less over. The season finale was interesting to say the least!
I love the way how there's very minimal music so all the action scenes have this realistic tone to them.

Last night's finale sure was action-packed! The last 5 minutes were pretty good with that Bob Dylan tune playing (it sounded like Willie Nelson covering it though).
