Wasn't that proved as false/myth or something on some Discovery Channel show? Can't remember... No sunlight, etc, to let the tree grow...

^^^ Well this particular story is pretty new, so I'm not sure if it's been debunked yet, but similar ones might have been.

I'm no expert, but don't the seeds carry enough energy/food in them to get saplings to a certain age/size? Because you don't have sunlight underground either. All plant life originating underground has to get to a certain size before it pokes out.

Who knows.

This is true. This is also why some plants can be germinated in a dark cupboard up to a certain point.
