Bah, he was unconscious already. He likely never even felt it.

I kid. I can see how it would happen and I'm usually a defender of the police but that did seem a little much. The adrenaline must be just a pumping though, but if they can learn to deal with other stresses, they need to be able to keep those emotions in check.

The guy is prone and helpless, and not one but several cops beat him because they had their adrenaline running.

The firings were justified and necessary.

Man, I'm usually all for the cops beating the holy hell out of maroons that try to run, but dude was already out. The extra beating was just for fun. They sure beat the tobacco spit outta that guy, gotta give them credit for that.

We get it, you don't like the police. Do you get that bringing it up in the way that you do adds nothing to the conversation but useless noise, and is borderline trolling?

hahaha, that video is hilarious.............on a side note, sometimes the attempted murder charges on a police officer is as little as them bumping cars to try to get out of a boxed in situation or something like that. Seems the police throw the attempted murder charges out there quick when someone goes near them..............i love the police, don't get me wrong but who knows what this guy really did.

No kidding. This pathetic jerk even during just the small amount of the chase they showed tries to kill one of the cops by running him down. And the poor guy was punched a few times--what a flippin joke. I personally wouldn't give a crap if they had run him over a few times.

Although police should have exercised far more self control, it's is funny that the beating is seen as disproportional to him fleeing and ramming police cars. Seems rather odd to me.

Long live Mikey... he is great comic relief.

It's not the police that decide what someone is charged with, it is the Crown Prosecutor (or whatever they call it in the US).

The cops are just supposed to arrest the people and present the facts of the case, and someone else decides what the charges should be.

I'm pretty sure the police were doing a PIT manouever and were the one's running into the back of his car trying to get his front end to swing around. I don't see where it showed him trying to run one of them down in that video.

i think the beating was unnecessary and am glad the cops were fired.

a policeman's duty is to judge what is right and wrong every day. how can we let these guys continue to do that when they can't show proper judgment for themselves? sure the suspect deserved a beating for running from the police, but just because you deserve something doesn't mean they have to give it. the guy had just flown out of a rolling car and laid on the ground motionless. yet that one guy kneeled over his head and punched him repeatedly. police have to lead by example. how can we respect the police when they needlessly beat suspects?

(one note as i don't want to get lost in semantics - i realize i said police judge people. i dont want that to get caught up in the 'police dont make the law they just enforce it' mantra. the context i was referring to is when police use their judgement to let a guy off with a warning if he was barely speeding, or doesn't arrest a couple guys for a bar fight or some other similar situation.)

I'm surprised that he didn't get a solid jolt from a taser too. I think I saw him pick up a stapler or something.

While I don't have the slightest bit of sympathy for him, the excessive force was completely unnecessary. The threat was neutralized already. Cuff him, take him in, done. Even the idiots get their day in court - that's what it's there for.

I really only see excessive force from one officer. Why were all of them fired? Surely holding down a guy who might be able to run away again (they didn't know that yet) isn't "excessive force."

Err... They guy clearly wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and thus deserves to be punched and run over by the cops.

I'd have to watch it again but from what I remember I think each and every cop got an extra punch or kick in. They all deserve to be fired for that.

There is a reason we have a legal system. The majority of the time it works. The police NEVER have an excuse to abuse their power by beating someone who is clearly not moving and is no risk to any of them anymore.

For those who say the guy got what he deserved, I really feel bad for you. To joke about it is one thing but some seem to be serious about this guy deserving it. I'd say he got all he deserved when the police successfully ran him off the road. He flew out the window and was no longer moving. The police caught their man using all necessary force at that time. Everything after that was ridiculous way over the line.

Take the fact that it is a 'cop vs perpetrator' out of the scenario...

If this was a group of random guys vs the guy getting beaten, they would all be charged with assault.

The fact that they are cops and not some random group of guys does not excuse their behavior.

Cops being above the law is completely unacceptable in my opinion.

**I don't hate cops at all, infact I like most of them that I have had the pleasure of interacting with. I do however dislike cops on a power trip.
