Public Skating

Anyone know of anywhere to do some public skating in the summer? I'm starting a hockey beginner program in a few weeks and want to try a couple public skates before I start

If you google Calgary Arenas, and call the number listed next to the arena, public skate times are usually said on the answering machine or the rink rat will tell you if he/she picks up.

South Fish Creek 403-201-8652 has public skating around noon most days. Give them a call and go for a $5 skate. At most there is 10 others on the ice on weekdays and if you have kids you can pretty much let them skate without watching where they are going

I'd suggest the Olympic Oval at the UofC, but it looks like public skating is not available until July.

great place to go skating thats where i learnt to skate a few years back

They take out the ice annually in May/June.

I'm gonna check that out in the coming weeks, for sure. My daughter is into 'skating like Daddy', which honestly is not very good!

Also if you want to get some non-contact shinny in http://www.sfcra.com/pdf/shinny.pdf Basically all levels show up for the shinny and it is $5. You don't need to sign up ahead of time but in peak season it sells out on Fridays/holidays etc....
