Default Yahoo Mail hacked. Help

Hi all,

My email account the last couple days has been hacked and emails have been sent to all my contacts with a spam message. And then when they are done they are deleting my contacts. I have changed my password today, any other suggestions?

Why would someone hack your account? It is more likely they got through via password recovery or had your password somehow...hacking the account randomly is very unlikely.. Piss anyone off lately? Login from a public area and not log out? Get owned by some phishing scam?

In the meantime email yahoo support and get them to shutdown the account

Change your password recovery question. Many people have REALLY easy questions like "Whats my dogs name?" and anyone that knows them could EASILY change it. I think Sarah Palin's was something along those lines and the "Hacker" got all the info off her wikipedia and answered the question.

The thing is my password didnt change when they did it. I have read about it happening to other people too. I have contacted yahoo but all I got back was a the canned response we will contact you in 3 days or less or whatever it was. I recieved an email from a scammer a couple times and wrote back and told them to piss off but thats just about it. I only sign on at work (my own workstation) on my laptop and on my iPhone

Exact same thing happen to my brother, spam mail from his account and contacts deleted. All he did was change his password.

FML. My hotmail account got hacked today. Bunch of spam messages sent to all my contacts. How do they manage to get in without changing the password permanently? Is this a virus or just a security issue?

Yeah, I'm not worried about that as much as I am somebody getting my personal info from some of the emails I have stored on my account.

Screw it. I'm just going to format my computer tonight. It's been acting like a piece of crap lately anyways.
