A bit of both, usually a play on their name is most common. You can search for people by both their screen name and their first/last name though.

It allows you to have a user name and also your "real name"
So a professional could have their user name be something like "Drgoodhealth" and still have "John Smith" in there as their name.

Personally.. I just used my online persona. If you search for kermitology probably 95% of the hits are me.

There are some that have a capital K. That's not me. There's also something that discusses that Kermit the Frog will rise up and lead people or something.. that's not the case.
